Abstract
Methods and apparatus for continuously detrashing paper stock components. The method pertains to detrashing paper stock components from a pulper wherein contaminants from the pulper are fed to a detrashing apparatus with the components separated into accepts, light contaminant and heavy contaminant fractions in the detrasher. The light contaminant fractions are continuously removed from the detrashing apparatus. The continuous detrasher comprises a top wall, a bottom wall and opposing sidewalls connected to each other and to the top and bottom walls to define an enclosed chamber. The chamber has a generally tapered cross section with a central axis extending longitudinally through the chamber from the bottom wall to the top wall. A tangential inlet is provided to the chamber to provide vortical force to the paper stock. A light contaminant outlet is provided along with an accepts outlet the latter of which is formed in a perforated bedplate in the bottom wall of the chamber. A heavy fraction outlet is also positioned in the chamber. The chamber geometry is such that the height (h) of the chamber divided by the bottom wall diameter is greater than or equal to 0.7 and wherein the diameter of the top portion of the chamber divided by the diameter of the bottom portion of chamber is greater than or equal to 0.9.

Abstract
Apparatus and methods are provided for controlling influent feed to produce a substantially uniform flow to a clarifier tank (2) to thereby enhance the settling efficiency within the clarifier. The apparatus comprises a feedwell (24) having a roof (26) and continuous sidewall (28) that together define a feedwell main body enclosure. Influent is fed via a relatively inboard tangential feed mechanism (108) to the inside of the roof (26) from an entry point proximate the center of the roof (150). Influent energy is properly distributed via the action of centrifugal force to generate a uniform axial flow within the feedwell main body which, in turn, is fed into the clarifier tank. Optional baffle members (152, 158) may be provided in the housing to slow angular momentum of the influent which, due to its original feed location, would necessarily be at a relatively low level.

Abstract
A pulp screen apparatus and method are disclosed in which the hydrofoil member thereof comprises a camber surface adapted for relative movement along the screen surface in proximity thereto. The camber surface comprises a channel surface portion located intermediate of the leading edge and the trailing edge of the hydrofoil. The channel surface is substantially parallel to the screening surface and the distance between the channel surface portion of the hydrofoil and the corresponding (underlying) screen cylinder portion proximate the channel region portion is substantially the minimum distance or clearance between the camber surface and the cylinder surface.
