Abstract
A multi-value selection switch that includes an engagement surface with an integrated touch sensor. The integrated touch sensor includes a plurality of detectable positions that correspond to, for instance, a range of absolute or relative target input values between a predefined minimum and maximum. The engagement surface further defines a switch that actuates/activates based on detecting a user-supplied force and/or based on a user momentarily holding a finger/pointer position. A user can select a target input value by bringing a finger or other pointer within operable proximity of an associated detectable position and actuating the switch and/or momentarily pausing. In response, the selection switch outputs a control signal to an associated device to cause the same to adjust operation.

Abstract
The invention relates to an interior trim part, in particular for a motor vehicle, comprising a base component, a decorative layer made of leather or a leather-like material, and a spacing layer between the base component and the decorative layer, the spacing layer being made of a material that is softer than the material of the base component. The base component, the decorative layer and the spacing layer each have a localized area of weakened material, which allows the interior trim part to break away in a controlled manner when a predefined amount of force is applied to the base component, wherein, at least in the area of weakened material, an intermediate layer lies between the decorative layer and the spacing layer, which intermediate layer does not have a localized weakened area. The invention further provides a method for producing the interior trim part.

A predetermined breakage line is formed between the support component and the top-cover component, which defines at least one serration or one undulation at the edge of the top-cover component, and the covering material exhibits a structural weakening, wherein the contour of the structural weakening is congruent with the contour of the breakage line at least in the area of the serration or the undulation. The breakage line between the support component and the top-cover component and the structural weakening of the covering material are formed at least in the area of the serration or the undulation by means of one or a plurality of cuts, which fully penetrate the support component and partially penetrate the covering material.

Abstract
The present invention relates to a molded part, in particular, to an interior panel component for a motor vehicle, having a core layer comprising a mixture of natural or synthetic fibers and thermoplastic binding fibers, which are processed to form a nonwoven, and a thermoplastic cover layer, the core layer and the cover layer being fused together and the cover layer being such that the molded part has a visible surface, which is terminated by the cover layer, the visual appearance of the visible surface being at least shaped by the fibers of the core layer. The present invention furthermore relates to the manufacturing of a molded part in which the nonwoven of the core layer is warmed and pre-compressed in a contact heater, and the compressed nonwoven, together with the cover layer is introduced into a mold and recast.

Abstract
A trim means for a motor vehicle comprises a carrier having a B side and a C side. A recess is formed into the B side of the carrier, and the carrier has an aperture in the region at the edge of the recess. A planar lighting unit comes to lie flush in the recess on the B side of the carrier, so that on the B side of the carrier a substantially continuous planar surface of the carrier with the lighting unit is produced. The lighting unit has a connection cable which is guided through the aperture to the C side of the carrier, where it is connected with a plug connector, a further conductor or directly with a control unit. A cover layer is applied onto the B side of the carrier and covers the planar lighting unit and at least a portion of the surface of the carrier. The cover layer forms the visible side of the trim means and is permeable to the light emitted from the lighting unit.

Abstract
An energy absorber for a vehicle includes an elongate member having lateral and longitudinal axes. The elongate member may include one or more channels which are oriented to have walls which extend in the general direction of the lateral axis. An upper surface of at least one of the channels may have an engagement feature that may be configured to engage a stationary member of a vehicle when an impact force brings the engagement feature into contact with the stationary member. The channels may be configured to deform and collapse to absorb at least some of the impact force.

Abstract
A relatively thin printed LED backlight device with an integral diffuser may be integrated into an interior trim component using a molding process, such as injection molding, compression molding and reaction injection molding. The display portion may be placed behind a textile surface or molded grille or may form a portion of the outer surface of the trim component to provide light to low light areas of the vehicle. Electronic circuitry and components may be printed on to the substrate of the device as part of an in-line continuous process at the molding station to allow low inventory and customization of each backlight device.

A headliner and bracket cooperate to define a trim edge around a vehicle sunroof. The bracket may include a lip the wraps around an edge of the headliner and trim associated with the headliner.
The invention relates to a storage compartment (1) for a motor vehicle, comprising a plastic base body (2) and a textile plastic material for sound absorption. The textile plastic material is designed as a surface element (14, 15, 16), which is securely connected to the plastic base body (2) in the edge region (14', 15', 16') by means of injection molding. Thus, a substantially self-supporting surface element (14, 15, 16) is produced. Said self-supporting surface element (14, 15, 16) forms a wall or bottom region (6, 5) of the storage compartment. Alternatively, the surface element (14, 15, 16) made of the textile plastic material can be disposed at a distance to a wall or bottom region (6, 5) of the storage compartment (1), wherein spacer ribs are provided on the plastic base body (2) for defining the spacing. For the production of the inventive storage compartment (1), the surface elements (14, 15, 16) made of the textile plastic material are inserted into an injection mold and are fixed therein. The edge regions (14', 15', 16') thereof are then insert-molded by injection molding such that the surface elements (14, 15, 16) are configured as integral parts of the storage compartment (1).

The invention relates to a method for producing a noise insulation piece of mass/spring construction. The mass (4) has, at least before a deep draw process, at least one locally defined region (5), with a different weight per area from the other regions. After the deep draw process, the spring layer made from an elastic light material such as a two-component polyurethane foam or a mixed non-woven fibre is applied. The locally different weight per area of the mass (4) is achieved by means of application of a granulate (3) to a base mass layer (1) in particular in locally differing amounts and/or thicknesses, wherein the granulate (3) is fixed to itself and to the base mass layer (1) by means of sintering. After deep drawing, the desired weight per area of the mass (4) can be achieved independent of the degree of drawing. The granulate (3) can alternatively also be applied to a thin and lightweight support layer in locally required amounts or thicknesses.
