Abstract

A sled assembly includes a sled that carries a reciprocating spinner assembly for spraying reinforcing material against the interior surface of a pipe. The reciprocating spinner assembly includes an axial worm gear operatively connected to a reversible drive motor. A dust cover and shroud are arranged to keep the worm gear free of dust and debris. The sled includes skis that have a structural core member and an outer wear member and adjustable frame members by which the height of the reciprocating spinner assembly may be adjusted to be at the center of different diameter pipes. Temperature sensors and an air pressure sensor are arranged to sense the temperature of the spinner and the reinforcing material the pressure of compressed air for the spinner. Lights are arranged to illuminate the working area and to provide a visual indication of which direction the spinner is moving along the worm gear.

Abstract

A planetary gear retrieval system for pulling a sled at a constant velocity along an interior of a pipe, and a sled for applying a coating material to the interior of the large-diameter pipe. The planetary gear retrieval system is connected to the sled via a chain, and has a network of gears controlled by a first variable speed microcontroller. A spinner on a linear oscillating plate provided on the sled is controlled by a second variable speed microcontroller. The first and second microcontrollers are programmable to be synchronized with one another so as to pull the sled at a desired constant rate and achieve a desired number of passes of the spinner along a given length of pipe while the sled is pulled at the desired rate.

Abstract

A spray head for spraying mortar is provided. The spray head includes a mortar supply pipe and a spinning head positioned at an outlet point of the mortar supply pipe, the spinning head directing mortar supplied from the mortar supply pipe in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of mortar in the mortar supply pipe. An air intake for receiving air is further provided, the air being employed to spin the spinning head pneumatically. Finally, a material input port is provided for inputting material to be combined with the mortar in the mortar supply pipe at the outlet point of the mortar supply pipe.
