Abstract

An aspect of the disclosure provides a method of manufacturing a radio frequency, RF, circuitry component, the method comprising: providing a dielectric substrate; coating a first surface of the dielectric substrate with a first layer of material to cover a contiguous region of the surface into which the circuitry component is to be inscribed, wherein the coating is performed by an atmospheric pressure process; operating a laser to ablate material from the layer within the region to create the circuitry component, wherein the circuitry component is adapted for RF electrical signals.

Abstract

A Differential Phase Shift Isolator is disclosed. The isolator comprises: an input configured to receive a radio frequency signal; an output; a waveguide cavity, between the input and the output, wherein a trench is provided along a surface of the waveguide cavity, and a piece of phase shifting material having an edge. The piece is affixed to the surface of the waveguide cavity and the edge is bordered by the trench. The phase shifting material is arranged to provide a phase shift to the radio frequency signal received by the input.

Abstract

An RF isolator is disclosed, comprising: a circulator; a termination connected to a terminal of the circulator; a housing surrounding the circulator and the termination. The housing comprises: a first housing piece made from a first material, the first housing piece arranged to inhibit leakage of magnetic field from the circulator, and a second housing piece made from a second material, the second housing piece arranged to direct heat generated by the termination away from the circulator. The second material has a greater thermal conductivity than the first material.
