Abstract

Proposed concepts thus aim to provide schemes, solutions, concepts, designs, methods and systems pertaining to determining an anatomy-anchored reference system for a medical dataset comprising a representation of at least part of an anatomical structure. In particular, embodiments aim to provide a method for determining an anatomy-anchored reference system for a medical dataset comprising a representation of at least part of an anatomical structure by identifying a plurality of predetermined features of interest of the anatomical structure in the medical dataset. In other words, it is proposed that by identifying features of interest, e.g., anatomical features, of an anatomical structure in a medical dataset, such as a heart, an anatomy-anchored reference system can thus be determined. In this way, a single common reference system can be generated that provides a more efficient and/or effective method of facilitating registration between different images/models/segmentations/views.

Abstract

A color map may be used to assign color hue or brightness values to pixels of images based on intensity values of ultrasound signals. The color map may be dynamic rather than fixed with respect to time or another parameter. In some examples, a range of color hue or brightness values assigned to intensity values may dynamically change with image number of a sequence. In some examples, the color map may change for individual images of the sequence. In some examples, the color map may change over time. In some examples, the color hue and/or brightness distribution of the color map is linear with time. In some examples the color hue and/or brightness distribution of the color map is adapted based, at least in part, on properties of the images.

Abstract

An apparatus comprises a receiver (201) receiving a first depth map for a first video frame of a plurality of videos frames. A divider (203) divides the first depth map into two dimensional geometric primitives/polygons larger than two pixels. A map generator (207) generates a vertex position map indicative of the vertex positions of the geometric primitives in the first depth map. A depth map generator (205) generates a second depth map comprising the depth values of the first depth map at the vertex positions and a bitstream generator (209) generates the video bitstream to include, for the first video frame, the second depth map, and the vertex position map. The division is dependent on the depth values of the depth map. A complementary apparatus renders images using a mesh generated from the bitstream by determining the original vertex positions based on the received vertex position map and projecting these to a 3D space.

Abstract

A system and method for generating an ultrasound device interaction indicator representative of at least an orientation of an ultrasound device (230) relative to a subject (210). An acoustically translucent standoff layer (240) is positioned between the ultrasound device and the subject. Ultrasound echoes received by the ultrasound device, including ultrasound echoes from the standoff layer, are processed to determine a deformation of the standoff layer caused by an axial force or pressure exerted by the ultrasound device. The deformation of the standoff layer is used, along with characteristics of the standoff layer, to generate the ultrasound device interaction indicator. In another aspect, one or more characteristics (245) of the acoustically translucent standoff layer (240) and the ultrasound signal (235) are processed to determine a measure of strain hysteresis of the acoustically translucent standoff layer; and, in response to a determination that the measure of strain hysteresis exceeds a predetermined hysteresis threshold, an indication is generated that the acoustically translucent standoff layer needs replacing.

Abstract

Method and apparatus of automatic fracture detection from imaging scans are disclosed. A innovative manifold view combing advantages of earlier approaches while avoiding the limitations of these approaches is coupled with a deep learning based fracture detection model. Ribs and spine from a three-dimensional scan are segmented, rib centerlines and vertebra center landmarks are detected and labeled. Three-dimensional position coordinates corresponding to the received data are mapped to a defined two-dimensional manifold plane followed by interpolation and sampling techniques to generate a two-dimensional manifold slice and corresponding mapping function. A three-dimensional visualization of the rib cage is generated from a plurality of manifold slices. A trained fracture prediction model receives the plurality of manifold slices and generates a revised stack of two-dimensional manifold slices showing predicted fractures. The predicted fractures may be shown in the two-dimensional manifold slice or mapped back to the image space of the original three-dimensional scan.

Abstract

A power transfer system comprises a power transmitter (101) wirelessly providing power to a power receiver (105) via an inductive power transfer signal. Communication from power receiver (105) to the power transmitter (101) is by load modulation using the power transfer signal. The communication uses load modulation where each symbol is represented by a chip sequence being a sequence of modulation load values. The power transmitter (101) comprises a first communicator (207) which correlates a chip sequence received from the power receiver with a set of reference chip sequences being linked to data symbol values and determines the data symbol as the data symbol linked to a reference chip sequence for which the highest correlation with the first chip sequence is determined.

Abstract

Proposed concepts thus aim to provide schemes, solutions, concept, designs, methods and systems pertaining to dynamically determining a color mapping function for Doppler data of regurgitant flow in a cardiac valve. In particular, embodiments aim to provide a method for dynamically determining a color mapping function for Doppler data of regurgitant flow in a cardiac valve by obtaining and processing Doppler data comprising at least two Doppler data frames representing regurgitant flow associated with an orifice in a cardiac valve, and a blood flow model of the regurgitant flow. In other words, it is proposed that, for each Doppler data frame of the Doppler data, by determining a region of interest in the blood flow model based on the blood flow model and the color map, a target iso-velocity surface of the model can be determined, and a color mapping function for said Doppler data frame can be determined based on this target iso-velocity surface.

Abstract

Disclosed concepts aim to provide schemes, solutions, concepts, designs, methods, and systems pertaining to improved prediction of gestational weight gain (GWG). Specifically, a data series describing weight of the pregnant subject at least twice per day (e.g., after waking up, and before going to sleep) during an early stage of pregnancy (e.g., during the first 30 days of pregnancy, or during the first trimester) is used to determine a historic GWG curve of the subject. As energy balance in pregnancy is defined as energy intake equal to energy expenditure plus dynamic energy storage, a specific GWG prediction model is used to generate the historic GWG curve, rather than a generic weight gain model. From the historic GWG curve, a future GWG value of the subject may be predicted. This future GWG value may be used to assess a pregnancy risk score, and/or to generate lifestyle recommendations for the subject.

Abstract

Image processing methods are provided for processing photon-counting CT images. The processing involves receiving denoised photon-counting CT image data and, for each image voxel, obtaining normal distribution mean and deviation values. Noise parameter images are generated from these per-voxel mean and deviation values and the denoised photon-counting CT image data is compressed. During decompression, per-voxel mean and deviation noise values are obtained so that pervoxel noise is generated in the image domain. The per-voxel noise is applied to the decompressed denoised photon-counting CT image.

Abstract

Disclosed concepts provide improved security of a deployed neural network (i.e. improved security during inferencing of a neural network), in particular against membership inference attacks. Specifically, a data scrambler and a descrambling layer are provided. The data scrambler receives an input from an entity (e.g., a user) and only scrambles the input if the entity is authenticated and authorized. The descrambling layer is attached to the deployed neural network, and descrambles the input so that the neural network may provide a correct output corresponding to the initial (unscrambled) input from the entity. Of course, if the entity is not authenticated and/or authorized, then the input will not be scrambled and so the descrambling layer will provide an incorrect input to the neural network. Accordingly, unauthenticated, or unauthorized entities will not receive the correct output corresponding to the input from the entity from the deployed neural network (as the input provided by such entities will not be scrambled by the data scrambler).

In operation, the defibrillation controller Determines, for each electrode pad pair, a probability indicator of at least one of a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) or a successful shock of the patient responsive to an application of a shock by the electrode pad pair to the patient based on a defibrillation vector associated with the electrode pad pair derived from an electrocardiogram signal associated with the electrode pad pair. The defibrillation controller, further in operation, determines the electrode pad pair among the plurality of electrode pad pairs having the highest probability indicator, and controls the application of the shock to the patient by the electrode pad pair determined to have the highest probability indicator.
