A receiver for wirelessly receiving transmitting power includes a control unit, a charging unit charged by the transmitting power, a sensor configured to measure a physical quantity, and a transmitter configured to transmit the physical quantity. The control unit includes a voltage acquisition module to detect a charging voltage of the charging unit, a threshold comparison module to compare the voltage with a threshold, and a power receiving state determination module to determine a power receiving state based on the comparison. The control unit includes a transmission control module to determine whether transmission is permitted based on the state. A transmission timing control module causes the transmitter to transmit at a predetermined interval. If transmission is not permitted, the timing is delayed by a predetermined time. If the timing is consecutively delayed a predetermined number of times, the transmission is performed after a next predetermined transmission interval.

To provide a specific method that is feasible and effective for performing MCPT control with a relatively simple configuration. A power-receiving device for receiving electric power transmitted from a power-transmitting device, based on a wireless power transfer method is provided. The power-receiving device includes: a power-receiving antenna for receiving electromagnetic waves; a rectifier functionally connected to the power-receiving antenna for converting the electromagnetic waves into DC voltages; a controller functionally connected to the rectifier for adjusting a resistance on an output side of the rectifier; and a power storage device for storing an output of the controller. Voltage-current characteristics of the rectifier vary according to a distance between the power-transmitting device and the power-receiving device. The controller is adapted for performing MCPT control by stepwisely changing a resistance value so that a voltage value on the output side of the rectifier is lower than a predetermined threshold value.

Abstract

A power transmission apparatus includes a controller that controls a power transmitter that performs wireless power transmission. The controller is configured to: cause the processor to: cause the power transmitter to emit a first power transmission beam for which a first power is set; acquire feedback information on a result of reception of the first power transmission beam in a power reception apparatus; identify a power receiving capability in the power reception apparatus; and determine, with reference to the power receiving capability and the reception result, a second power which is usable in wireless power supply for the power reception apparatus and which is larger than the first power. The power receiving capability includes a maximum value of an input power range of the power reception apparatus. The wireless power transmission uses an electromagnetic wave having a frequency equal to or higher than that of a microwave.

A radio-frequency power receiving device has RF antennas connected to multiple controllable rectifying circuits to produce corresponding DC signals which are combined in a controllable switching network to produce a combined DC output.
