A key switch for computer keyboards that generates a clicking sound when pressed and released. Embodiments of the key switch include a housing, a stem, a position spring, a torsion spring, and a click bar. The stem flexes the torsion spring when the key switch is depressed, and after reaching a predetermined threshold, the torsion spring contacts the click bar producing a first click sound. When the key switch is released, the torsion spring contacts the click bar a subsequent time producing a second click sound of equal volume with the first click sound.
