Abstract

An installation tool for fastening a top plate to a roof support member and other structural connections is adapted to drive screws at a pre-established angle. The tool preferably includes a rotary driver assembly and a telescopic tube assembly. A guide assembly is mounted adjacent the outer end of the telescopic tube assembly. Locating structures function to properly precisely set the drive angle of the screw. A stabilizer prevents the screw from moving during the installation. The guide assembly is also configured to provide a marking for inspection purposes.

Abstract

A sealing assembly for fluidly sealing a roof drain within a conductor pipe has a sealing element and an expansion ring. The sealing element defines an inner wall with a portion that transitions inward and may be disposed on a portion of the roof drain. The expansion ring is disposed within the inner wall. Reciprocation of the of the expansion ring along the inward transitioning portion of the inner wall causes the sealing element to expand outwardly to a sealed position with the sealing element outer wall abutting the conductor pipe inner wall in a fluid tight seal. Opposite reciprocation of the ring allows the sealing element to contract and release from the conductor pipe.

Abstract

An adapter for hands-free attachment of an installation clip to a commercially available power driving tool. The adapter has a frame and a magnetic element. The adapter is rigidly attachable to the nozzle of a power driving tool by mechanical forces, magnetic forces or a combination thereof. Once attached to the nozzle, the adapter allows attachment of an installation clip by magnetic forces generated by the magnetic element in a position for driving of an elongated securing member from the nozzle through an attachment hole in the clip. The force of the driven securing member overcomes the attractive magnetic forces and disengages the clip from the adapter.

Abstract

A fastener storage assembly comprises a container and a lid. The container has a bottom and two pairs of opposed sidewalls. The lid acts as a fastener alignment guide for locating a fastener to be driven through a deck board having a width w into a joist having an engagement edge face thickness t. The fastener alignment guide has a template and a pair of aligned substantially identical wings equidistantly spaced a distance w. The template defines a pair of aligned openings each having a center and a medial axis passing through each center. Each of the wings projects perpendicular to the template and defines a recess defined by a pair of parallel edges spaced a distance t. A plane through the medial axis and perpendicular to the template is equidistantly spaced the edges.

Abstract

A screw for composite or plastic material comprises a head having a socket which is rotatably couplable for application of a torque. An elongated shank extends from the head and terminates a tapered threaded distal tip. The shank has one portion having an enlarged diameter and a second portion having a reduced diameter. The first portion is traversed by a left hand thread having a first pitch. The second portion is traversed by a right hand thread having a second pitch which is less than the first pitch. An unthreaded land portion adjacent the tip extends at least twice the second pitch. For some embodiments, some thread segments have notches. The fastener is particularly adapted for very dense material.

Abstract

A roof insulation fastening system employs a fastener and a compression plate with a tube which interacts with the compression plate to permit the plate to vertically move relative to the head of the fastener when the adjacent area and/or plate is subject to excessive compression. The tube includes a retainer shoulder and a pair of tabs wherein the plate captures the tube. The tube includes a throat and a tapered portion with a throughbore. The fastener is inserted into the tube and secured in place so that the head is retained at the intersection of the throat and the tapered portion and the shank is secured into the roofing substrate.

Abstract

A dispenser system employs a packaging module for use with moisture sensitive materials. The packaging module comprises an outer carton and an inner bladder, which is substantially impermeable to moisture and is filled with one part of an adhesive. The carton is loaded on a mobile cart and the one part adhesive is supplied to a pump/mixer without exposure to moisture in the atmosphere. The packaging and dispensing system can be used in conjunction with mechanized adhesive application equipment for the construction trades.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a dispensing apparatus for a two-part adhesive and a method of dispensing a moisture sensitive adhesive with a mobile applicator system. A cart having a tray and a pump assembly communicates with a mixer. A first package enclosing a bladder contains the first adhesive component, while a second package contains the second adhesive component. A first and second conduit disposed below the tray communicate between the opening of the first package and second package respectively and inlets of the pump assembly. The first and second adhesive components are pumped by the pump assembly to the mixer and dispensed therefrom. The method involves providing a package containing one part of an adhesive which is mixed with a second part to form an adhesive. The packaging and dispensing system and method can be used in conjunction with mechanized adhesive application equipment for the construction trades.
