Provided is a spin-dryer which detects with improved accuracy whether articles of laundry are displaced. The spin-dryer (1) contains an electrically-powered motor (6), which rotates a spin-dry tub (4), and a control unit (30). When the spin-dry tub (4) begins to rotate, the control unit (30) measures the load of articles of laundry (Q) inside the spin-dry tub (4). After measuring the load, the control unit (30) controls the duty cycle of the voltage applied to the electric motor (6), causing the electric motor (6) to rotate stably at a first rotational speed, then causing the electric motor (6) to rotate stably at a second rotational speed higher than the first rotational speed. While the electric motor (6) is in a state of acceleration to the first rotational speed, the control unit (30) obtains a reference duty cycle at a time determined according to the measured load. After obtaining the reference duty cycle and within a specified period, the control unit (30) determines, on the basis of an indicator representing the manner in which the duty cycle begins to change from the reference duty cycle, whether there is a displacement of the articles of laundry (Q) inside the spin-dry tub (4).

Because the drum washing machine uses a structure in which a speed reduction mechanism using a gear reduces the rotation speed of the driving motor (100) and transmits the rotation to the drum (22), abnormal sound from the speed reduction mechanism when rotation of the drum (22) is stopped is reduced.

Warm air is prevented from flowing into a storage chamber during defrosting or when cooling starts, heat transfer from a cooling chamber to the storage chamber is prevented, and the temperature rise in the storage chamber is constrained to a low level.
