Abstract

A cable tension control for an item of furniture, in particular a free-floating table, comprises: a plurality of cables (120) which can be guided in a plurality of regions through the item of furniture and have a length in order for the item of furniture to be held in a floating manner on a holder via an attachment; a plurality of motors for rolling up and unrolling the plurality of cables (120) in order to move the item of furniture vertically by a change in length of the plurality of cables (120); at least one sensor for determining cable tensions of at least some cables of the plurality of cables (120); and a control unit (150) for controlling the plurality of motors on the basis of the determined cable tensions.
