Abstract

A two-stroke reciprocating piston engine. The engine principally consists of an expansion cylinder (24) and a compression cylinder (14), and an expansion chamber (13) and a combustion chamber (10). When pistons (2) of the expansion cylinder (24) and compression cylinder (14) move from a bottom dead center to a top dead center, gas in the expansion cylinder (24) is compressed in the expansion chamber (13), gas in the compression cylinder (14) is compressed in the combustion chamber (10), a water spray nozzle (7) sprays water towards the high-temperature and high-pressure gas in the expansion chamber (13), and, when the water encounters the high-temperature and high-pressure gas, the water is rapidly vaporized. At the same time, an oil spray nozzle (11) sprays a fuel into the combustion chamber (10), a spark from a spark plug (9) ignites the combustible gas of the combustion chamber (10), the high-temperature and high-pressure gas produced by the combustion pushes open a valve of the combustion chamber (10), the gas in the expansion chamber (13) is once more expanded under the effect of the high-temperature and high-pressure gas in the combustion chamber (10), and the piston of the expansion cylinder (24) moves from the top dead center to the bottom dead center under the effect of the high-temperature and high-pressure gas, i.e. work is done. When a piston moves below an exhaust gas outlet, part of the exhaust gas is discharged out of the cylinder and another part of the exhaust gas remains in the cylinder ready for the next stroke. This engine can improve the utilization ratio of an energy source.
