Abstract

Provided are a water supply device and a water supply method with which water can be supplied even if a motive power source requiring fuel or electric power is not used, the amount of water supplied can be increased, and head can be increased. This water supply device is provided with a plurality of tubular cells, wherein the cells have semipermeable membranes placed at the lower ends, the cells are made to communicate in a state of being vertically stacked, the cells accommodate emulsified water in which particles have been dispersed, the semipermeable membranes are placed so as to separate the emulsified water and water adjacent to the lower sides of the cells where the semipermeable membranes are placed, the particles in the emulsified water settle on the semipermeable membranes to form sedimentary layers, osmotic pressure occurs in the sedimentary layers due to the overlapping of electric double layers formed on the particle surfaces, and with this osmotic pressure as a drive source, water is supplied from the water adjacent across the semipermeable membranes.

Abstract

Provided is a particle flocculating and separating apparatus, which is capable of efficiently flocculating and concentrating particles in a liquid and separating the particles from the liquid, and for which space-saving installation is possible. The particle flocculating and separating apparatus is provided with a vessel into which a liquid to be treated is supplied and at least a pair of electrodes inside said vessel, and is obtained by disposing said electrodes in parallel at an angle with respect to the direction of gravity and applying a direct current electric field so that adjacent electrodes have different polarities.
