Abstract

A void former for use in the casting of concrete wall panels to form a recess in a surface of the panel, comprises a flexible shell of box-like form is open at one side, an opposite side of the shell being closed and being adapted for co-operation with a connection mounting cast into the panel to be accessible via the recess in the panel. The shell includes a removable rigidifying insert which, after casting of the panel, is removed from the shell to permit removal of the shell from the recess thus formed, by flexing of the shell.

Abstract

An edge-lift anchor for tilt-up lifting of a concrete component has, at a lower part of its head means for anchoring the head against shear forces acting during the tilt-up phase of lifting. Such means may comprise an aperture to receive concrete, an aperture to receive a length of reinforcing bar, of a shear plate welded to the lower edge of the head.

Abstract

A void former particularly for use with a lifting anchor cast into a concrete component is of two piece construction comprising a flexible element and a separate body which is substantially rigid. The flexible element is engageable with the head of the lifting anchor and is maintained in position by the rigid body which also acts to maintain the shape of the void during casting. After casting the rigid body is removed from the flexible element to thereby permit the flexible element to be disengaged from the lifting anchor by manipulation. The void former is thereby removable after casting without destruction of the void former and is thereby suitable for repeated use.
