Abstract

The present invention relates to a roller-shutter system (1) for protecting windows (110) and doors against break in and weather, having a roller-shutter screen (3), having two guide rails (4), each with an upper portion (41), having a drive mechanism (8) for retracting and extending the roller-shutter screen (3) along the guide rails (8), and having a pivoting mechanism (6). The two upper portions (41) of the guide rails (4) can be swung out, via the pivoting mechanism (6), from a swung-in position into a swung-out position. In the swung-in position here, the roller-shutter screen (3) can be retracted and extended in a first plane via the guide rails (4) and, in the swung-out position, the roller-shutter screen (3) can be retracted and extended, via the two upper portions (41) of the guide rails (4), in a second plane, which is inclined in relation to the first plane. Further aspects of the invention relate to a method for operating the roller-shutter system (1) according to the invention and to a complete system for protecting windows and doors against break in and weather and for providing them with privacy protection.
