Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus for heating glass-carrying precious metal pipes, with at least one first precious metal ring enclosing the precious metal pipe, at least one second current-conducting ring and at least one main power supply, which are electrically connected to one another in this sequence. In order to provide an apparatus for heating glass-carrying precious metal pipes by electric current that can be produced at low cost and with which damage to the current-conducting rings due to excessive heating is prevented, it is proposed according to the invention that at least the second current-conducting ring consists of at least two part-rings, which are connected in parallel and arranged axially or radially next to one another and which are not in electrical contact with one another over the greatest part of their adjacent surfaces.
