Abstract

The invention relates to a method for generating mechanical power, for example for generating current, by means of at least one combustion engine (1), the waste gases thereof being at least partially used as a gasification medium in a gasifier (7) and being reduced to a synthesis gas in the presence of carbonaceous substances (13). In order to prevent a nitrogen enrichment while using as much of the waste heat from the waste gases as possible, technical oxygen is used for combustion in the combustion engine (1).
