Abstract

A separation system including a horizontal separation vessel having a gas separation chamber defined by an upper wall of the separation vessel, a gas dome extending above the upper wall, a baffle plate disposed within the separation vessel, and a level of a lower surface of the baffle plate. The lower surface of the baffle plate is disposed below a level of an upper surface of a liquid weir disposed within the separation vessel. The upper surface of the liquid weir may set a liquid level within the separation vessel. The gas separation chamber may include a hydrostatic pressure seal zone between the level of the upper surface of the liquid weir and the level of the lower surface of the baffle plate. Liquid within the hydrostatic pressure seal zone may prevent a gas disposed within the gas separation chamber from escaping into a remainder of the separation vessel.

Abstract

A gas expansion cooling method for reducing hydrocarbon emissions includes feeding a high pressure cooling gas through a valve, decreasing a temperature of the cooling gas by decreasing its pressure; feeding the cooling gas into a heat exchanger; and diverting a hydrocarbon gas into the heat exchanger such that the cooling gas decreases a temperature of the hydrocarbon gas. The cooling gas may be drawn from a preexisting high pressure gas system that serves a purpose other than supplying a coolant for the gas expansion cooling system. A portion of the hydrocarbon gas may be condensed in the heat exchanger to form a hydrocarbon liquid, which may be separated from the hydrocarbon gas in a separation vessel. The hydrocarbon liquid may be recovered, while the hydrocarbon gas may be fed to a ventilation system.

Abstract

A wastewater treatment system includes a vessel and a plurality of media canisters contained in series therein. The vessel provides for linear flow of wastewater through the canisters for treating and removing contaminants. The canisters contain seal means to form a fluid tight seal against the inner wall of the vessel. The linear flow provides for increased flow rates and more efficient treatment and removal of contaminants. A method of using the treatment system to treat wastewater to remove or neutralize one or more contaminants therein is also described.

Abstract

A hydrostatic pressure testing system for hydrostatic pressure testing of pipe or other vessels. A control center may include a computer program that monitors, records, and controls the system during testing. A test fluid assembly may include a fill conduit capable of providing a test fluid to an inlet section of a vessel to be tested in response to a command from the computer program. A pressure-release safety assembly may have a vent conduit in fluid communication between an outlet section of the vessel and a safety valve. The safety valve may be in fluid communication with a bleed tank for storing an outlet flow of test fluid from the vessel. The safety valve is actuated to relieve fluid pressure in the vessel in response to a selective condition. A method of using the system to conduct hydrostatic pressure testing is also described.

Abstract

A flange bolt cutter for separating two connected flanges. The flange bolt cutter contains a circular saw blade pivotally connected to an adjustable flange band. The flange band contains an alignment ring for aligning the circular saw blade about the midpoint between two connected flanges. The flange bolt cutter is hydraulically operated. The adjustable flange band may be formed in two band sections hinged together and containing a rotatable bolt and handle for tightening and loosening the band sections around the flange connection.
