Abstract

A cover that covers the opening of an aircraft housing using two sets of moveable arms to secure the shield in place. A drive mechanism containing a nut that engages with the two sets of arms differently to allow movement of the two sets of arms at different rates and to allow one set of arms to move when another set of arms is locked in place. The arms are pivotably connected to a hub assembly housing that allows one end of the arms to pivot in a direction opposite the direction of movement of the opposing side of the same arm. Embodiments meant for use with taller aircraft can include installation pole port assembly that is operably connected to a drive screw via a universal joint. An installation tool adapted to be inserted into the hub assembly can be used to extend and retract the arms.

Abstract

A cover for use with aircraft equipment that covers the opening of an aircraft housing using two sets of moveable arms to secure the shield in place. A drive mechanism containing a nut that engages with the two sets of arms differently to allow movement of the two sets of arms at different rates and to allow one set of arms to move when another set of arms is locked in place. Both sets of arms as well as the hub assembly containing the drive mechanism are covered with a weather resistant fabric that prevents material from entering the housing. The arms are pivotably connected to a hub assembly housing that allows one end of the arms to pivot in a direction opposite the direction of movement of the opposing side of the same arm.

Abstract

A system for installing a novel engine shield in the opening of an aircraft engine that is too high off the ground to be accessed by the ground support technicians while standing on the ground that includes a housing of the shield that has a front section that extends away and downward from a rear section of the housing. The front section of the housing contains an installation pole port assembly that includes an opening or port in a structure that is operably connected to a drive screw via a universal joint. In some embodiments, the installation pole port assembly is positioned to be recessed within an opening in the front section of the housing. Other versions also include a photoluminescent material applied near or around the opening in the front section of the housing.

Abstract

A cover for an opening on the exterior of an aircraft that contains a fire-resistant, high-temperature tolerant foam encased in a cover made of an aramid fabric. The cover is friction-fitted to the interior of the orifice. The cover can contain one or more durable rings embedded in the fire-resistant, high-temperature tolerant foam meant to protrude outward from the rest of the cover of the body to contact an interior of the orifice into which they are inserted holding the cover in place with friction instead of fasteners.

Abstract

A method of preventing aircraft from taking off with ground support equipment installed thereon by detecting the presence of ground support equipment installed on an aircraft using geo-fencing software to define a predetermined area or virtual perimeter around in which aircraft may be operating and using an electronic tracking tag with a positioning device to transmit the location of the tracking tag to a satellite and/or land-based receiver. The satellite and land-based receiver are able to transmit location information to a computer system that then generates an alert. The alert is then transmitted to the pilot or other crew member of the aircraft, the control tower and/or ground support crew or any other entity desired. At that point the person(s) receiving the alert are in a position to take remedial action.
