Abstract

A lifting trolley (10) for use with a base frame (60, Figure 3) of a prefabricated shell (82, Figure 5) for forming a utility room is provided. The trolley comprising a chassis, a first set of wheels (14) and a steerable wheel assembly (16) disposed on the chassis, a lifting assembly (18) having a coupling means (20) for cooperative engagement with a corresponding coupling means (66 or 68 Figure 3) disposed on the base frame, the coupling means (20) being disposed substantially between the first set of wheels (14), and an actuator (22) for moving the lifting assembly relative to the chassis between a lowered position in which the coupling means of the lifting trolley and the frame element can align and be received and a raised position in which the coupling means of the lifting trolley and the frame element are securely coupled. The base frame (60 Figure 3) comprising a plurality of frame elements (70, 72, 74, Figure 3), a first coupling means (66, Figure 3) disposed on one side of the base frame for cooperative engagement with a coupling means of the lifting trolley when the lifting trolley is in a raised position; and a plurality of adjustable feet. A transportation system (80, Figure 5) comprising two trollies (10a, 10b, Figure 5) and a base frame (60, Figure 5).

Abstract

A prefabricated shell (10) for forming a utility room in a building, the shell comprising a base unit (12) and a substantially U-shaped wall (14) extending upwardly from the base unit; the substantially U-shaped wall being connected to the base unit, the base unit having a substantially planar upper member (36) for forming a floor within the utility room, and feet (56) or (40) being provided underneath the substantially planar upper member, which support the substantially planar upper member in a raised position above the surface on which the feet are placed, a space being formed underneath the substantially planar upper member and substantially unimpeded access for forks of a forklift or pallet truck to slide underneath the substantially planar upper member from at least a front of the prefabricated shell, for lifting the prefabricated shell into position. In another aspect of the invention the base unit (12) includes an anti-vibration means (48) for isolating vibration from a washing machine or other appliance disposed on the base unit (12).

Abstract

A prefabricated former 10 for an underground pumping station comprising: a main chamber 12 for housing water pumping apparatus 13; an antechamber 14 for, in use, keeping components 15 of the pumping station dry; and an opening in an upper end of the prefabricated former for receiving concrete; the main chamber 12 having a side wall having an inner layer 16 and an outer layer 18 defining a first cavity for receiving concrete therebetween; the antechamber being formed in a cut out of an upper end of the side wall of the main chamber, the antechamber having a side wall surrounding a base wall, both the side wall and base wall have an inner layer 22, 26 and outer layer 24, 28 defining a second cavity for receiving concrete therebetween; wherein the first cavity is in communication with the second cavity enabling concrete, poured through the opening, to flow from one cavity to the other; when set, the concrete forming a unitary structure. A method of constructing a subterranean pumping station using the disclose prefabricated former for an underground pumping station. The method involving excavating a hole; placing the prefabricated former; introducing concrete into either the first cavity of the first chamber or second cavity of the second chamber so that the concrete flows between the cavities.
