Abstract

A binding device (10) that aligns sheets of paper on which images are formed and performs a binding process comprises a compiling unit (40) that aligns sheets of paper into a sheet bundle. The compiling unit has a pair of joggers for aligning sheets of papers into a sheet bundle and a driving mechanism (800) that performs an alignment operation by moving the pair of joggers to a standby position in which sheets of paper to be transported are received and to an aligning position in which the received sheets of paper are aligned. Each of the pair of joggers comprises a movable guide (41a, 42a) that performs an alignment action for aligning the sheets of paper and an opening-and-closing guide (41b, 42b) that can open and close with respect to the movable guide. The binding device further comprises an opening-and-closing means (810a, 810b) for closing the opening-and-closing guide during the alignment operation from the standby position, moving the sheet bundle that has been aligned and bound to a discharging position, and releasing the opening-and-closing guide at the time of discharge so as to allow the sheet bundle to be discharged thereat. As a result, the binding device can be made smaller and the space required for when the pair of joggers discharge a bound sheet bundle can be reduced.

Abstract

[Problem] To reliably align and match side curled paper by means of a simple structure, and being able to bind a book from the result as a paper bundle. [Solution] A left-right pair of side fences (801, 802) have a c-shaped cross section for aligning the left-right edges of the paper, and have: a side wall (801a, 802a) that aligns the side surfaces of the ends of the paper; a top wall (801b, 802b) that aligns the top surface of the ends of the paper; and a bottom wall (801c, 802c) that aligns the bottom surface of the ends of the paper. A front-side protrusion (801b1, 802b1) and a back-side protrusion (801b2, 802b2) in the direction of conveyance are formed at one wall of either the top wall or the bottom wall, and a center protrusion (801c1, 802c1) in the direction of conveyance is formed at the other wall of either the top wall or the bottom wall. An alignment groove (803, 804) is formed from the front-side protrusion (801b1, 802b1) and back-side protrusion (801b2, 802b2) of one wall and the center protrusion (801c1, 802c1) of the other wall, and the alignment groove (803, 804) can hold the left and right ends of the paper and guides the ends when the paper is being aligned and matched.

Abstract

[Problem] To minimize a reduction in system productivity caused by processing staples or the like. [Solution] A paper transfer unit (20) includes: entrance rollers (21a, 21b) that carry in paper transferred from an image forming device (1); exit rollers (22a, 22b) that send the carried-in paper onto a base tray (14); driving means (23a, 23b) that separately drive the entrance rollers (21a, 21b) and the exit rollers (22a, 22b); and a control means (24) that controls the driving means (23a, 23b). The control means (24) drives the entrance rollers (21a, 21b), and drives the exit rollers (22a, 22b) such that the transfer of a first paper among a stack of paper loaded upon the base tray (14) is stopped for a predetermined time, and driving of the exit rollers (22a, 22b) is started such that the second paper to be transferred next is transferred together with the first paper.
