Abstract
A diverting roller for a waste separator for separating non-ferrous metal parts from waste supplied on a conveyor is provided with a hollow jacket (15) for diverting the conveyor belt. This jacket (15) is made up of a number of layers present on top of each other. At a first distance D1 from the inner side (15a), three first elongated indication elements (41) are present between two successive layers and at a second distance D2 from the inner side (15a), which second distance is greater than the first distance, three second elongated indication elements (43) are present between two successive layers. As the jacket wears down during use, the indication elements will become exposed over time and will subsequently wear out. If the indication elements are different colored ribbons, they become visually discernible the moment they are exposed. This is an indication that the mantle needs to be replaced.

Abstract
A magnetic device (1) has a housing (3) provided with an elongated work surface (5) which, during operation, is present next to a stack of plates and is vertically oriented in longitudinal direction, as well as two elongated permanent magnets (9), (11) which are rotatable between an active state, in which the first magnet (9) faces the work surface (5) with the magnetic North Pole 9N and the second magnet (11) faces the work surface (5) with the magnetic South Pole 11Z, and an inactive state in which the North Pole 9N of the first magnet and the South Pole 11Z of the second magnet are facing each other. The other poles 9Z, UN of the magnets are magnetically connected to each other via a magnetic conductor (21). Moving the magnets takes little force and the magnets turn by themselves or possibly assisted by a spring to the inactive state when the power supply is lost.

Abstract
A waste separator has two diverter rollers around which an endless conveyor belt is led. One of the diverter rollers is provided with an Eddy current separator for separating non ferrous metal parts from a waste stream. This diverter roller 5 has a hollow roller 15 which is bearing mounted on discs 19. A magnet rotor 23 is eccentrically present in the roller 15, which rotor is provided with permanent magnets 31, 33.; The roller 15 accommodates a cooling duct 39 through which a cooling agent is pumped for cooling the space 45 inside the roller. It has turned out that owing to the rotation of the magnet rotor turbulent air swirls evolve inside the roller which lead to development of heat in the roller and in the bearings of the roller. Owing to this development of heat the roller becomes weak which leads to vibrations. The source of the vibrations and of the development of heat inside the roller is eliminated by installing a cooling system in the roller.
