Abstract

There is disclosed herein a testable water meter (100) having a housing (1) with a conduit (2) extending therethrough and defining an inlet (3) and an outlet (4) positioned along a central axis of flow (A). A flow detector (5) is located intermediate the inlet (1) and the outlet (2) for detecting a volume of flow of a fluid passing through the conduit (2). Provided are one or more valves (10,13) for controlling flow through the conduit (2); and a plurality of test ports ( 6, 7, 8, 11) communicating with the conduit (2), wherein the test ports are positioned to allow for isolation and testing of one or more of: the flow detector (5), the valves (10, 13) individually, the valves (10, 13) as a group, and the meter overall.

Abstract

A valve (10) is disclosed. The valve (10) has an inclined valve seat (14) defining a fluid aperture (18), and a valve head (20) for contact with the valve seat (14) for closure of the fluid aperture (18). A lever arm (22) is attached to the valve head (20). There are biasing means (32) operatively coupled to the lever (22) arm for urging the valve head (20) into contact with the valve seat (14), the biasing means (32) being arranged to provide decreased biasing on opening of the valve head (20) relative to the fluid aperture (18).

Abstract

A valve (10) is disclosed comprising a valve housing (14) including a valve seat (12), a valve head (16) movably housed within the valve housing (14) for seating with the valve seat (12), and a lip seal (30) connected to either the valve head (16) or the valve seat (12). The lip seal (30) is configured to be hydraulically biased into contact with the valve seat (12) or the valve head (16) to maintain closure of the valve.

Abstract

A water valve assembly (10) is disclosed that comprises a valve housing (14) including a valve seat (12), and a valve head (16) being arranged to contact the valve seat (12). There is also resiliently deformable bellows (18) connected to the valve head (16) and defining a fluid passageway (26) about its outside surface. The bellows (18) urge the valve head (16) into contact with the valve seat (12) for closure of the valve (10).

Abstract

This invention relates generally to the manufacture of a product in the form of a valve. The general steps involved in manufacture of the valve (10) are as follows: (1). The valve (10) is formed in its initial configuration which is in a substantially unstressed condition; and (2). The valve in its initial configuration is at least partially inverted to provide the valve (10) in its operative and stressed condition.
