Abstract

The invention relates to a device for compacting small amounts of powder material with a press, in particular a roller press (1, 2) or the like, and a feeding device for feeding powder material to the press or the roller gap (S) of the press. The aim of the invention is the simple handling of small amounts of powder material, in particular highly effective pharmaceutical powder, and the introduction of said powder material into the press in a reliable manner for the operating personnel. This is achieved in that the feeding device has a mounting (5) for a closed, cartridge-like container (6) which is filled with the powder material to be compacted, and a displacing device (16, 15.3) for displacing the material out of the container (6). The invention also relates to a method for compacting small amounts of powder material, wherein a portion of the powder material is filled into a cartridge-like container (6), the container is closed, the closed container (6) is inserted into a mounting (5) of a feeding device associated with the press, the powder material is displaced out of the container (6) by means of a piston (8) by breaking said container, and said material is supplied to the press or the roller gap (S) via a mouth piece (9) which is associated with the container.
