Abstract

The present disclosure relates to near-end crosstalk (NEXT) cancellation. A transmit communication signal is transmitted over a first Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connection using a first group of frequencies and a receive communication signal is received over a second DSL connection using a second group of frequencies that at least partially overlaps the first group of frequencies. A crosstalk correlation between the first and second communication signals is determined. Based on the crosstalk correlation, a crosstalk cancellation signal is generated. The crosstalk cancellation signal is subtracted from the second communication signal, with the intention of reducing NEXT.

Abstract

Apparatus and methods for providing small cell backhaul are disclosed. A network node that acts as a gateway for a local communication network to a main communication network through a bonded link with the main communication network also provides a wireless communication module with a backhaul communication link to the main communication network through its bonded link. A switch module in the network node switches communication traffic between the local communication network, the wireless communication module and the bonded link to the main communication network. Abstract

Systems and methods for connecting and disconnecting to a DSL ring are provided. A cross connect node is used to connect multiple endpoints into a DSL ring. When a given endpoint is powered down, a cross connect bypasses that endpoint such that the ring is maintained. Abstract

Apparatus and methods relating to bonded interconnection of local communication networks are disclosed. Bonded communication links, including multiple constituent links that have been bonded together, are terminated to enable communications over the bonded links using bandwidth available on the constituent links. A cross-connect function determines whether received communication traffic is to be forwarded to one or more of a local communication network and the terminated bonded links. The received communication traffic is forwarded in accordance with the determination. The local communication networks may include ring networks, linear networks, or both. The bonded links and links between nodes in a local communication network are bonded DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) links in some embodiments. Bonding of DSL links in this manner can be used, for instance, to extend the reach of DSL service without sacrificing bandwidth.

Abstract

Abstract

Apparatus and methods of remote powering of DSL ADMs are disclosed. In a subscriber communication node, at least communication components that enable the subscriber communication node to communicate with a network switching device, and possibly also subscriber communication components that enable one or more subscriber communication devices to communicate with the network switching device, can be powered either by a local power source or remotely through an electrically conductive twisted wire pair. A network node may derive its own power and also supply power to subscriber communication nodes through twisted wire pairs. A linear or ring topology of subscriber communication nodes can thus be kept operational, and subscriber communications can potentially also be maintained, when a local power source at one or more subscriber nodes becomes unavailable.
