The tool for injection-moulding articles has a nozzle-side fixed mould block (10) on which there is formed at least one group of part-cavities, an ejection-side movable mould block (12) on which there is formed at least one group of part-cavities which, when the tool is closed, form cavities for injection-moulding the articles with the part-cavities of the fixed mould block (10), an ejection station (100) which is located outside the mould blocks (10, 12), and at least one holder (18) which is movable on a predefined movement path between the injection station (104-108), formed by the cavities, and the ejection station (100) and transports preforms injection-moulded in the injection station (104-108) to the ejection station. The holder is moved by a programmable drive system in which the positions of the holder in the injection station and in the ejection station are programmed.
In a method and a device for producing brushes (10), bunches of bristles (16) are removed sequentially from a bristle store (44) in which the bristles are packed parallel. The removed bunches of bristles (16) are transported by means of a transport device (18) to a base part (12) of the brush (10). From the rear face of the base part (12) the bunches of bristles (16) are forced sequentially into assigned openings (14) in the base part, wherein between the transport device (18) and the rear face of the base part (12) a guide plate having deflecting channels is provided, through which deflecting channels the bunches of bristles (16) are forced into the opening (14) in the base part (12). Subsequently the bunches of bristles (16) are fastened to the base part (12) without anchoring.
A method for operating a bristle‑cluster‑separating apparatus makes provision for the cluster remover (22) to be coupled to a drive (24) and for the drive to be moved at such a speed as to achieve a frequency of at least 1100 cycles/minute for the cluster removers (22) moving back and forth. The speed of the groove (32) for receiving the bristle clusters and the transfer region between the groove (32) and the bristle reservoir (14) are selected such that the residence time of the groove (32) in the transfer region per cycle is greater than 10 miliseconds, preferably 12 milliseconds. A description is also given of a bristle‑cluster‑separating apparatus.
A transportation device in a brush production machine, in particular a brush tufting machine, has a holder (30) for a plurality of brush parts (28) or bristle receptacles which are to be processed in succession. A drive motor (36) in the form of a servomotor moves the holder (30) in increments, wherein the incremental movement is achieved by a step-by-step motion linkage (34). The invention also provides a method for transporting brush parts or bristle receptacles.
A process for producing brushes by means of an apparatus comprises the following steps: providing either at least one prefabricated base part (14) to which clusters of bristles (16) are fastened and which forms a portion of the finished brush, where a separate supportive layer (30) is applied to the back of the base part (14), or at least one prefabricated base part (14) which is formed by insert moulding a plurality of clusters of bristles (16) with bristle ends which have been fused together beforehand, feeding and positioning the base part (14) covered with bristles to and in an injection mould, wherein, in a cavity (46) of a mould half of the injection mould, the edge of each base part (14) rests on the edge (50) of an opening (48) starting from the associated cavity (46), and the clusters of bristles (16) protrude into the opening (48), and moulding a brush portion onto the back of the base part. Also described is an apparatus for producing brushes.
The invention relates to a method and device for producing brushes (10), wherein bunches (16) of bristles are removed sequentially from a store (44) of bristles, in which the bristles are packed parallel to each other. The bunches (16) of bristles removed are transported to a base part (12) of the brush (10) by means of a transport device (18). The bunches (16) of bristles are pushed sequentially into associated openings (14) in the base part from the rear of the base part (12). A gap is provided between the transport device (18) and the opening (14), through which gap the bunches (16) of bristles are pushed into the opening (14). Then the bunches (16) of bristles are fastened to the base part (12) without anchoring.
A bristle support is produced from thermoplastic plastics material, having through holes and a peripheral edge surrounding said holes. Brush elements such as bristles, bundles of bristles, cleaning elements made of elastomer material and natural fibres are then fastened in the holes of the bristle support. Furthermore a cover part as a component of a brush body made of thermoplastic plastics material is formed and provided with a mounting region for the bristle support and with sacrificial structures formed in the mounting region and a connecting edge surrounding the mounting region. The peripheral edge of the bristle support and the sacrificial structures as well as the connecting edge of the cover part are then plasticised by heating. Then the bristle support and the cover part are pressed against one another, and the plasticised peripheral edge of the bristle support is welded to the plasticised connecting edge of the cover part. The plasticised material of the sacrificial structures flows into the volume remaining between the bristle support and the cover part and surrounded by the connecting edge, said plasticised material at least substantially filling said volume.
A method of combining a brush head plate with a brush handle or part of brush handle is disclosed which makes use of any of a mechanical, friction, welding, gluing and molding technique or of a combination of these techniques.

An injection molding tool is used to produce plastic parts such as toothbrush bodies or razor handles, for example. The tool has a stationary center mold block and a pair of outer mold blocks. The center mold block has two parallel opposed molding faces joined by two parallel opposed side faces extending perpendicular to the molding faces. The molding faces have parallel partial mold cavities formed therein and the outer mold blocks each are associated with one mold face of the center mold block and each have a molding face with parallel partial mold cavities formed therein which together with corresponding partial mold cavities of the associated mold face of the center mold block form complete mold cavities. Holders are indexed alongside the peripheral faces and around corners formed between the peripheral faces to hold and transport molded parts alongside the peripheral faces of the center mold block.
