Abstract

Vision-based recognition systems and methods can be used to identify gaming chips and stacks of gaming chips on a gaming table. The vision-based recognition systems and methods can include imaging devices that capture images of gaming tables, and an image service that can analyze captured images to identify gaming chips therein and determine denominations of the identified gaming chips. To identify gaming chips, an image service can identify gaming chip edges, gaming chip transitions, and other features. To determine gaming chip denominations, an image service can identify colors, patterns, and other gaming chip indicia, and match or correlate the identified colors, patterns, and indicia to stored colors, patterns, indicia, and other metrics associated with gaming chip denominations. To augment gaming chip identification and denomination determination, an imaging service can perform image processing methods, such as, for example, executing machine learning models and various applying algorithms.

Abstract

Gaming chips with intricate edge designs and a method of manufacturing such chips are described. In one example, a chip slug with a top surface, a bottom surface, an edge surface, and a number of edge cavities is formed. A number of edge inserts including inlay apertures and interlock features are also formed. An additional material, possibly including a security additive, is injected into the inlay apertures of the edge inserts. The edge inserts are inserted, respectively, into the edge cavities of the chip slug, and the chip slug is remolded with the edge inserts to adhere the edge inserts within the edge cavities of the chip slug. Gaming chips formed in this manner can include well-defined, intricate edge designs, possibly including features identifiable using ultraviolet or infrared light based on the security additive injected into the inlay apertures of the edge inserts.

Abstract

The token, in the overall shape of a disc, of the type having a body obtained by multi-shot injection moulding of plastic, comprises a core (14) obtained by a first injection of plastic, including a central portion (24) defining the central part of the body of the said token and a peripheral portion (31) defining, via radial projections (18), at least part of the edge surface of the body of the token. The core (14) incorporates an insert (26) comprising a contactless electronic chip identification device (27) embedded in the first injection in the central portion (24) and held at its periphery by projections or fingers that form part of the injection mould and define openings (36) in the core. The body of the token comprises a covering layer obtained by a second injection of plastic around the peripheral portion (31) of the core (14) in order with the core to form the entire edge surface and the peripheral annular part of the body of the token. A decorated label is affixed to each face of the token. The token can be used as a gaming token or gambling chip.
