The power management system also includes a monitoring and control system configured to receive status inputs including an operational status and/or an operational cost of each of the power sources, and power consumption metrics of the primary group of power consumers and/or the secondary group of power consumers. The monitoring and control system is also configured to output a control signal to decrease a power consumption by the secondary group of power consumers and to power the primary group of power consumers by the second power source as a function of the operational status and/or operational cost of each of the power sources.
