Abstract

A tire having an indicator device that visually indicates exposure of the tire to a pre-selected temperature is provided, and an indicator device that may be positioned on a tire, for indicating that the tire has been exposed to a pre-selected temperature. The device includes expandable graphite dispersed within a pouch or binder. Also described is a method for detecting that a tire has been exposed to excessive temperature. The method includes providing a tire that includes at least one indicator device that contains a pouch or binder and expandable graphite dispersed in the pouch or binder. Visual inspection of the tire to detect a change in the appearance, shape, volume or texture of the indicator device can indicate that the tire has been exposed to a temperature that meets or exceeds a pre-selected temperature.

Abstract

A method of making a polymer with stable Mooney viscosity is described. A conjugated diolefin is reacted in a hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of an initiator to form a polymer. After forming the polymer, alkoxysilane terminal functionalizing groups are bonded to the polymer. An alkoxysilane stabilizing agent is then added to the polymer in the presence of hydrocarbon oil. The polymer is then desolvatized, resulting in a polymer with stable Mooney viscosity, even over prolonged periods of time. Compositions and articles containing the polymer are also described.

Abstract

A wall panel system for attachment to a building surface includes a plurality of generally vertical supports, and a plurality of generally horizontal mounting rails interconnected with the vertical supports to define a panel mounting gridwork. The horizontal mounting rails have an upper mounting feature and a lower mounting feature, on a side opposite from the building surface. A plurality of panels each have a rear surface, an upper extrusion mounted to a top of the rear surface, and a lower extrusion mounted to a bottom of the rear surface. The upper extrusion mates with a corresponding lower mounting feature on the gridwork, and the lower extrusion mates with a corresponding upper mounting feature on the gridwork. The plurality of panels have a gap about a periphery thereof relative to any adjacent panels, whereby the panels can be non-sequentially mounted to the gridwork.

Abstract

Methods of making polymers by polymerizing conjugated diolefin in a hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of an initiator are described. Trialkyl or triaryl siloxy iminosilane functionalizing agents are reacted with the polymer, followed by desolvatizing the polymer. The resulting polymer not only has good filler interaction and processability, but results in a polymer with stable Mooney viscosity. A polymer made by the process of the present invention, including silica, and carbon black fillers, and rubber compositions, and tires containing side walls and treads containing the polymers are also described.

Abstract

A method of continuously manufacturing a cured membrane includes continuously compounding and mixing a vulcanizable rubber composition in a mixing extruder while continuously removing gasses from the vulcanizable rubber composition during mixing with a vacuum. The vulcanizable rubber composition may be continuously extruded to form an extrudate, which may be continuously calendered to form a green membrane. The green membrane may be continuously cured, such as by a hot air conveyor curing system, to form a cured membrane.

Abstract

A solar panel assembly including a solar panel spaced from a surface to create a gap and a barrier movable between an open position and a closed position, the barrier being adapted to inhibit airflow through said gap below said solar panel when in the closed position. The assembly may further include a rack supporting the solar panel and resting on the surface. The barrier may be adapted to move from the open position to the closed position upon detection of conditions indicative of a fire. In this way air flow below the solar panel is permitted during normal operation of the solar panel assembly but is inhibited upon detection of a fire.

Abstract

An insulated daylighting assembly including a roof curb positioned adjacent to an opening in a roof surface and a domed daylighting dome secured to a top of the roof curb. A thermally resistant glass unit is positioned on an interior side of the daylighting dome and helps to reduce heat transfer through the insulated daylighting assembly. A fall-protection screen may be secured to the roof curb, and in certain embodiments may be secured to a bottom of the roof curb. The thermally resistant glass unit reduces thermal transfer through the insulated daylighting assembly without significantly reducing the light transmittance of the assembly.

Abstract

A portable representative device manages the administrative workload of a field technical representative. The portable representative device includes a processor programmed to present a technical field representative with a list of selectable scheduled tasks assigned to the field technical representative, each of the selectable scheduled tasks associated with a roof. The field technical representative is presented with a task-specific form for a selected scheduled task. The task-specific form includes a plurality of fields to collect field data for the roof of the selected scheduled task from the field technical representatives. Field data from the field technical representative is collected using the task-specific form, the field data including a roof plan of the roof of the selected scheduled task. The collected field data is submitted to a central control system. A system and method are also included.
