Abstract

The invention relates to a method for stabilising the frequency of a narrow-band Q-switched laser, in which method laser radiation from a seed laser (5) with a wavelength at which the laser pulses are to be generated is coupled into the laser resonator. A temporal intensity profile of laser radiation from the seed laser (5) coupled out of the laser resonator is detected, and, on the basis of the simultaneously detected temporal intensity profile, the optical resonator length of the laser resonator is controlled, by periodically varying same, to an approximately constant temporal average value in a control period between two laser pulses. During the time range in which the laser pulse is being generated, the optical resonator length of the laser resonator is changed from an initial value, that is known due to the previous control process, to a resonance value at which the laser resonator is in resonance with the wavelength of the seed laser (5) when the Q-switch (4) is switched, and, when said resonance value is reached, the Q-switch (4) is switched in order to generate a laser pulse. The method protects the element used to change the resonator length and yet makes it possible to stabilise frequency in a highly accurate manner with good a priori knowledge of the trigger time.

Abstract

A space station includes a housing that defines an interior space. An inner chamber is located in the interior space and defines an inner cavity that is sealable from the remainder of the interior space. At least one bulkhead is arranged in the interior space to partition the interior space into at least two compartments that are hermetically sealable from one another. One compartment can be accesses from another compartment via the inner cavity of the inner chamber. The inner cavity is sealable against each compartment. Openings in an outer surface of the housing enable crew members to leave a damaged compartment through the opening. Thus, alternative routes exist to leave a damaged compartment, i.e., either through the inner cavity or through the opening in the outer surface of the housing. When one compartment is damaged, the adjacent compartments are still operative because they are sealed from the damaged compartment.

Abstract

A vehicle body with a cavity therein. The cavity is optionally closed or opened by a door arrangement with one or more door leaves. The door leaves are connected to a wall of the cavity via multiple-joint hinges. A pivot axis of the door leaves is situated outside the cavity, and the multiple-joint hinges are arranged completely in the cavity without taking up installation space outside the inner volume of the cavity when the door arrangement is in the closed state. This design requires little installation space and allows a great freedom of movement of the door leaves.

Abstract

A device for providing a gas component having an electrolysis unit having a first chamber and a second chamber separated from the first chamber by a separating unit. The first chamber receives an electrolyte and provides a first gas component, and the second chamber provides a second gas component. A pressure inside the second chamber is greater than a pressure inside the first chamber. An electrolyte flow of the electrolyte only occurs in the first chamber and a passage of the electrolyte into the second chamber is prevented to keep the second gas component separate from the electrolyte. A phase separation unit separates the first gas component from the electrolyte to provide the first gas component. Also an aircraft or a spacecraft with such a device.

Abstract

An apparatus for detecting and evaluating turbulence for an aircraft. The apparatus contains a measuring device for acquiring a value, which indicates a movement of the aircraft relative to the earth, and a second measuring device for acquiring a second value, which indicates a movement of the aircraft relative to the air. The apparatus contains a computing system which receives the two values and determines a difference between the first value and the second value and, on the basis of the difference, a turbulence intensity. The computing system compares the second value with a predefined value range and classifies turbulence as classified turbulence if the second value departs from the predefined value range. The computing system determines the frequency of occurrence of such classified turbulences and detects a turbulent flight state on the basis of the determined turbulence intensity and the frequency of occurrence of the classified turbulences.

Abstract

A display arrangement for presenting video information to a human operator in a vehicle senses vehicle movements and movements of a head mounted display unit. Based on vehicle movements and movements of the display unit, a virtual scenario with background video data and application video data are generated to a display arrangement. The background video data are modified so background video moves opposite to vehicle movements. The application video data are modified so application video moves according to vehicle movement. A perspective onto the application video can be modified based on relative movements of the display unit with respect to the vehicle. This may reduce conflicts between sensory impressions of the vestibular system and eyes of the operator because movements of the vehicle and movements of the display unit are considered when generating and modifying the background and application video data presented to the operator.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method of preparing a pixel matrix sensor with a backside-illuminated geometry. After depositing (S12) a sensor layer on a second side of the substrate, a substrate spacer is prepared (S14), including removing completely the substrate in the central area from the second side of the substrate to create a gap in a central area above a photoactive region of the sensor layer and leaving the substrate spacer on the second side of the substrate and outside of the central area. An optical filter is then attached (S15) to the substrate spacer. The substrate spacer serves as a mechanical spacer for mounting the optical filter and facilitates maintaining the spatial homogeneity of the width of a gap between the optical filter and the sensor layer, without requiring additional holder structures for mounting the optical filter.

Abstract

In order to enable an improved braking performance and simultaneous control au- thority in braking systems, especially for aircraft (10), the invention proposes a brake control method for controlling a braking system of a vehicle, preferably an aircraft (10). The aircraft (10) has a plurality of brake device groups (23), and a brake control unit (34) receives a plurality of external brake demand signals each of which determines a brake target, such as longitudinal deceleration and/or lateral control. Furthermore, the brake control unit (34) receives a priority demand signal that controls the priority or importance of the first brake target over the second brake target. If it is not possible to achieve the demanded level of longitudinal de- celeration and lateral control authority simultaneously, one of the two is prioritized with an amount that is given by the priority demand signal.

Abstract

An aircraft with a mission computer, a GNSS receiver with a first air interface and a first receiver and a data transmission unit with a second air interface and a second receiver. The data transmission unit can receive data via an encrypted, bidirectional communication path. The mission computer determines a position value for the aircraft based on satellite signals from the GNSS receiver to which a correction term has been applied, which is transmitted to the aircraft by the data transmission unit to determine corrected satellite signals. The corrected satellite signals are the basis for determining corrected position value. The mission computer uses a GNSS receiver and data transmission unit as part of the aircraft. A ground arrangement is provided with an associated ground station and optionally a test unit for checking correct determination of the corrected position value.

Abstract

A method for detecting and excluding outliers in measurements of a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver with respect to one or several GNSS satellite constellations comprises estimating an initial solution for a measurement of position, time and/or velocity of the GNSS receiver depending on n observations with regards to the satellite constellations; constructing a limited multidimensional grid of candidate solutions around the estimated initial solution uniformly distributed by a predetermined grid spacing in the space of the parameters to be estimated; calculating at each grid point an n-dimensional residual vector containing the residuals of each observation for the respective candidate solution, wherein each residual corresponds to a deviation of the respective observation from a predicted value; sorting the components of each residual vector according to magnitude; determining a minimum of a norm across the grid, the norm being defined at each grid point on basis of the respective residual magnitudes considering only the h = n – k smallest residuals, wherein k depends on the expected number of outlier observations; selecting the candidate solution corresponding to the determined minimum of the norm as best solution for the measurement of position, time and/or velocity; and excluding outlier observations from the selected best solution on basis of their respective residual magnitudes.

Abstract

An aircraft has a first antenna arrangement, a payload and a processing unit. The first antenna arrangement is designed to wirelessly receive electromagnetic signals. The processing unit is coupled to the first antenna arrangement, on the one hand, and to the payload, on the other hand. The processing unit is designed to modulate an electromagnetic signal received by the first antenna arrangement and thereby to generate a first modulated signal and to forward it to the payload. The payload is designed to use the first modulated signal as working signal. A radiofrequency power signal on an uplink is thus remodulated into a payload working signal, such that the payload working signal is able to be used directly by the payload without rectification into a DC voltage.
