Abstract

Surface disinfection for enclosures with Ultra-Violet (UV) light and illuminating such enclosures with visible light. Particular embodiments relate to limiting the transmission of viruses and bacteria in the interior space of an aircraft, such as a lavatory, through the use of UV light application, while providing visible light to passengers of such lavatory, both in a safe and compliant manner. This disclosure provides a lighting system and method that combines a visible light emitter and a UV light emitter into a single light system module. Although UV light is a preferred method of neutralizing pathogens, its use is not safe for human exposure. Accordingly, the disclosed lighting system is capable of detecting the presence of an occupant within an enclosure or defined space and only allows the visible light emitter to function (and prevents the UV light emitter from functioning) while people or animals are present within the electromagnetic range for the lighting system. The lighting system can then detect the absence of an occupant within an enclosure or defined space, prior to activating the UV light emitter, and once absence is detected, the UV light emitter can be activated by a controller.

Abstract

A cable harness grommet for installation in an aircraft interior component, and method of installing the same. The cable harness grommet seals a honeycomb panel cut-out and seals the cable harness itself as the cable harness passes through the cut-out by way of an aperture in the cable harness grommet. The honeycomb panel cut-out is enclosed by the cable harness grommet such that the cable harness grommet closes and seals the honeycomb panel cut-out and the aperture around the cable harness itself, both in compliance with applicable airworthiness requirements.

Abstract

The invention relates to a modular on-board galley, in particular an aircraft galley (11), and a method of assembling such a galley that comprises, as utility zones, a base and at least one attachment element divided into compartments for accommodating drawers and devices, the compartments being designed with mechanical connectors for interconnecting the elements and with inserts or devices as well as electrical and electronic device connectors and device supply lines. Such a modular on-board galley that not only offers a variable structure but also enables the galley to be completely assembled in a simple manner with preassembled space-saving block- and housing-like attachments and superstructures that are nevertheless compact with regard to their dimensions, in particular in an aircraft that is fully equipped with seats, cabinets and on-board toilets, without these installed components having to be removed beforehand, is to be created. For this purpose, a backer element (2) to the rear as seen from the operating side (7) of the galley is designed for extension laterally as well as forwardly and rearwardly projecting individual housing-like attachments around the backer element and upwardly projecting attachments on top of the backer element, the attachments being attached successively, the backer element (2) having a horizontal connection plane (H) and vertical connection planes (LL, LQ) that run both in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction.

Abstract

A latch for a pivotal door has a respective pair of bolts on each of two opposite edges of the doors. The bolts are independently movable between latching positions projecting from the respective door edge and freeing positions at least partially recessed in the respective door edge, respective rods having outer ends connected to the bolts and inner ends. Respective actuating elements each connected to two of the inner ends are independently operable to shift the respective bolts between the respective latching and freeing positions. Respective adjacent handles coupled to the actuating are both shiftable independently of each other in generally the same direction between an unactuated position with the respective element setting the respective bolts in the latching positions and an actuated position setting with the respective element setting the respective bolts in the freeing positions.
