Abstract
A method of making polyurethane or polyurethane urea strands containing siloxane in the polyurethane or polyurethane urea backbone including the steps of: (a) reacting a macroglycol with a diisocyanate to form a prepolymer; (b) reacting the prepolymer with a diamine to form a spinning solution; (c) spinning the spinning solution to form polyurethane or polyurethane urea strands, wherein: i. a diol-polydimethylsiloxane is reacted with the macroglycol and the diisocyanate in step (a); ii. a diamine-polydimethylsiloxane is reacted with the prepolymer prior to the reaction of the prepolymer with the diamine in step (b); or iii. a diamine-polydimethylsiloxane is reacted at the same time as the prepolymer and diamine in step (b), and wherein the polyurethane or polyurethane urea strands comprise less than or equal to 6% of siloxane by weight based on the weight of the polyurethane or polyurethane urea strands and elastic fibers made thereby. An elastic fiber including two or more polyurethane or polyurethane urea strands including siloxane in the polyurethane or polyurethane urea backbone that are bundled together, wherein the siloxane is present in an amount of greater than or equal to 0.01% and less than or equal to 4.0% by weight based on the weight of the fiber. In some aspects, the siloxane is free of urethane radicals.

Abstract
When elastomeric yarns are unwound and fed to the needles of a circular knitting apparatus, a yarn package relaxation profile is set, or determined, with corresponding adjustments made to the unwinding speed based on such package relaxation profile. Variably compensating for a varying package relaxation while knitting results in more uniform properties in a circular knit fabric and improved elastomeric yarn yield.

Abstract
Circular knit, elastic fabrics of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece are disclosed that include a bare elastomeric material plated with spun and/or continuous filament hard yarns. The circular knit, elastic fabrics of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece are manufactured by a method that does not require a dry heat setting step. The method requires drafting the bare elastomeric material no more than about 2.5× its original length when knitting to form the circular knit, elastic fabrics of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece.

Abstract
A process for making a synthetic melt spun polyamide filament in a solid phase polycondensation apparatus is disclosed. The flow rate of the purge (make-up) gas to the apparatus is increased, and the overall pressure in the apparatus is decreased, as compared to solid phase polycondensation apparatus of the prior art. As a result, the removal of the thermal degradation impurity from the polymer flake contributes to improving the yarn quality and at the same time, extends the spinneret wipe life.
