Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to cyclonic air filtering systems for removing fine particles from an air stream. In some embodiments, small diameter cyclonic separators/elements are used to remove fine particles from an airflow where a large number of such elements are assembled together in a compact arrangement. In some embodiments, an air filtration system is presented and can comprise a housing including a plurality of compartments, an air inlet side and an air outlet side. Such a system can further include a plurality of cyclonic filtering arrays each housed in a respective compartment and each comprising an assembly of a plurality of cyclonic elements configured to filter air of an airflow via centrifugal force (i.e., cyclonic separation). The system can include mating means configured such that most, and in some embodiments, all of the airflow flows only through the arrays.

An air filtration system comprising a plurality of sections configured to receive an incoming airstream is disclosed. Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a method for reducing radon contained in indoor air from an indoor area. In some embodiments, indoor air containing radon from indoor air is directed through at least one layer of an adsorbent medium configured for capturing radon from air. In some embodiments, the indoor air is directed through the adsorbent medium at a predetermined flow-rate such that the fraction of radon captured in a single pass though the assembly is very low, approximately 10% or less of the concentration of radon in the incoming air. In some embodiments, there is provided a scrubber system for cleaning return air in an HVAC unit, where the scrubber system attaches directly to an inlet of the return-air side of the HVAC unit, for example, by the mating of a flange on the system with a matching flange on the HVAC unit. A regenerable air scrubbing system comprises of an air flow assembly with replaceable cartridges arranged in a parallel orientation and designed for easy insertion and removal of the cartridges. Method, systems, and devices for determining instantaneous heat exchange between an airflow and a heat exchange element of an HVAC system are disclosed. In some embodiments, methods and systems include receiving or otherwise obtaining airflow data, temperature and humidity data. The airflow data may be used to calculate the volumetric airflow rate, and the temperature and humidity data may be processed with enthalpy data to determine the change in enthalpy (Δh) of the airflow after encountering a heat exchange element. Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for an automotive vehicle air cleaning system are provided which may be configured to operate in at least an adsorption mode and an in-situ regeneration mode are disclosed. The system includes at least one type of sorbent material configured to remove CO2 from a cabin of an automotive vehicle according to a repeated adsorption- desorption swing cycle, a first inlet configured to supply a first airfiow of air from the cabin to the system during an adsorption mode, and a first outlet configured to return the first airflow after passing over and/or through the sorbent material during the adsorption mode. The system includes a second inlet configured to supply a second airflow of outside air to the system during a regeneration mode, a second outlet to return the second airflow after passing over and/or through the sorbent material during the regeneration mode.

Abstract

Some embodiments of the disclosure correspond to, for example, a method for controlling a scrubber containing an adsorbent. The scrubber may be configured to cycle between scrubbing at least one pollutant/gas from a stream of gases with the pollutant/gas being adsorbed onto the adsorbent, and regenerating at least some of the adsorbent and thereby purging at least some of the one pollutant and/or first gas from the adsorbent via a regeneration gas flow. The method may include flowing a stream of gases through the scrubber, the scrubber including the adsorbent and adsorbing at least some of the one pollutant/gas from the stream of gases onto the adsorbent during an adsorption phase over a first time period. Abstract

A sorbent for C02 reduction from indoor air from an enclosed space. In some embodiments, the sorbent comprises a solid support and an amine-based compound being supported by the support. The sorbent captures at least a portion of the C02 within the indoor air. The sorbent may be regenerated by streaming outdoor air through the sorbent to release at least a portion of the captured C02. The sorbent is structured to allow indoor air to flow therein with relatively low flow resistance and relatively rapid reaction kinetics. Regeneration may be performed at relatively low outdoor air temperatures, thereby minimizing the thermal energy required for regenerating the sorbent.

Systems and methods for circulating air in an enclosed environment are disclosed.
