Abstract

The invention provides an element for thermal energy storage, comprising a solid-state thermal energy storage medium and a pipe heat exchanger embedded into the solid-state thermal energy storage medium, a pipe heat 5 exchanger inlet and a pipe heat exchanger outlet, wherein each of said inlet and outlet are connectable to heat transfer fluid sources or users, and wherein said element is cylindrical.
