Described herein is a modified sulfur formulations having a carbon black material (e.g., lampblack) and a naturally derived oil, such as vegetable oil, or its derivative. The modified sulfur has an impact resistance greatly improved over other sulfur formulations. The modified sulfur can be used, for example, in sulfur coated controlled release fertilizer products. The sulfur can additionally or alternately be used in any application that would benefit from an increased impact resistance.
C05G 3/00 - Mixtures of one or more fertilisers with additives not having a specifically fertilising activity
C04B 28/36 - Compositions of mortars, concrete or artificial stone, containing inorganic binders or the reaction product of an inorganic and an organic binder, e.g. polycarboxylate cements containing sulfur, sulfides or selenium
E01C 7/26 - Coherent pavings made in situ made of road-metal and binders of road-metal and bituminous binders mixed with other materials, e.g. cement, rubber, leather, fibre

CONTROLLED RELEASE COPPER SULFATE FOR PHYTOPLANKTON CONTROL
A controlled release copper sulfate algaecide for controlling phytoplankton growth, including blue green algae is described. The controlled release algaecide includes a copper sulfate granule coated with at least one layer including a polyurethane which is a reaction product of a polymeric diisocyanate and a polyol.
A01N 55/02 - Biocides, pest repellants or attractants, or plant growth regulators containing organic compounds containing elements other than carbon, hydrogen, halogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur containing metal atoms
A controlled release fertilizer material comprising a particulate plant nutrient surrounded by a coating of a mixture including an isocyanate and a polyol, and further comprising a modified wax that may include a polyhydroxyl compound in which the wax and/or the polyhydroxyl compound are cross-linked with a sulfur or oxygen or a peroxide cross-linking moiety. In certain embodiments, the wax and polyhydroxyl compound are cross-linked at unsaturated sites in the wax or polyhydroxyl compound using heat, UV or ionizing radiation.
A controlled release fertilizer material comprising a particulate plant nutrient surrounded by a coating which is the reaction product of a mixture including a cross-linked polyol, an isocyanate and a wax is described. The cross-linked polyol is a reaction product of a polyhydroxyl compound, such as glycerol, and a triglyceride and the monoglyceride and/or diglyceride products are cross-linked with sulfur, oxygen and/or a peroxide cross-linking moiety, or are directly cross-linked at unsaturated sites in the monoglycerides and/or diglycerides.
A controlled release fertilizer material comprising a particulate plant nutrient surrounded by a coating including a mixture of a cross-linked polyol and an isocyanate, and optionally a wax, is described. In some embodiments, the cross- linked polyol can be cross-linked with sulfur, oxygen, and/or a peroxide cross- linking moiety. In one embodiment the cross-linked polyol is castor oil cross-linked with sulfur.
