Abstract

A method for building modular stair system comprises assembling a plurality of modular stair units, each of the plurality of modular stair units associated with a single story of a construction, each of the plurality of modular stair units further comprising a self-supporting structure supported by a plurality of corner columns. A first modular stair unit is located on a foundation of a structure. The first modular stair unit is secured to the foundation of the structure. A second modular stair unit is stacked on top of the first modular stair unit, wherein a first plurality of corner support columns engage of the first modular stair unit engage a second plurality of corner support columns of the second modular stair unit. The second modular stair unit is leveled using a connection sleeve that slides within the first plurality of corner support columns and the second plurality of corner support columns. The second modular stair unit is connected to the first modular stair unit to maintain the leveled second modular stair unit using the connection sleeve.

Abstract

A modular stair system comprises a plurality of modular stair units. Each of the plurality of modular stair units are associated with a single story of a construction. An upper, rectangular landing comprises a pair of long members connected at each end to a pair of short members. A mid-level, rectangular landing comprises a first pair of members and a second pair of members interconnected at their ends. A first and second plurality of corner brackets interconnects an end of the members with an end of the members of the upper and mid-level landings. The first and second plurality of corner brackets have the variable size depending on the number of the plurality of modular stair units to be stacked in the stairwell. A plurality of corner support columns support the upper, rectangular landing at a top portion thereof and the mid-level, rectangular landing at a mid-portion thereof and removably connected to the upper, rectangular landing and the mid-level, rectangular landing. The plurality of corner support columns have a second variable size depending on the number of the plurality of modular stair units to be stacked in the stairwell. A first stair runner removably connects to the mid-level landing and connects a bottom level to the mid-level landing. A second stair runner removably connects to the mid-level, rectangular landing and the upper, rectangular landing to connect the mid-level, rectangular landing to the upper, rectangular landing. Each of the plurality of modular stair units are organized such that a bottom modular stair unit is placed on a foundation and each successive modular stair unit of the plurality of modular stair units are stacked on top of and connected to a lower modular stair unit.

The present disclosure relates to stair systems and methods for allowing stair movement between building levels while maintaining the structural integrity of the stair system for safe egress passage. The systems and methods of the present disclosure allow for independent movement of the surrounding building walls, landings, floor slabs, and/or any other portion of the surrounding building structure or stair system. The embodiments of the present disclosure are suitable for use in both new constructions as well as in existing constructions for retrofit applications to allow for movement between levels, landings, or within stairwell structures. The present disclosure reduces stair damage during building movement whether it is from wind, thermal, or seismic activity, and/or any other type of suitable force or experience, as the present disclosure allows for directional movement, or a combination thereof, including tension and compression, lateral, or vertical movement.

Abstract

A cubicle curtain loading system, including: a first member having proximal and distal ends and configured to selectively retain a cubicle curtain, wherein the distal end of the first member is configured to engage a track system configured to selectively hold the cubicle curtain; and a second member having proximal and distal ends and disposed at an angle to the first member, wherein the distal end of the second member is coupled to the proximal end of the first member. The first member includes a slot traversing its length along a bottom or side surface thereof. Retainer structures coupled to the cubicle curtain selectively engage the slot and are gathered along the length of the first member. Alternatively, no slot is used and retainer structures coupled to the cubicle curtain are selectively disposed about the first member and are gathered along its length. One or more of the first member and the second member removably engage one or more clips coupled to one or more of a wall and a ceiling of a structure. Abstract

A modular entrance floor system comprising a plurality of floor sections, the plurality of floor sections being disposed adjacent each other and defining a perimeter of an entrance floor area. Each floor section includes a base plate permanently coupled to a foundation, and a surface plate removably attached to the base plate. The surface plate has at least one drain feature. Abstract

A door is constructed with a separate member joined to the door edge by a tongue-and-groove coupling and screws so as to be readily removable and replaceable. The separate member sustains the impacts imparted to the door by carts or wagons pushed past the door and can be readily replaced when damaged, thus avoiding replacement of the entire door. A flexible cover snaps over the outer surface of the separate member to add impact resistance and aesthetic appeal. Intumescent strips may be inserted inside or outside of the cover to enhance sealing between the door, and as adjacent door or door frame, thereby improving the fire resistance rating of the door. Accent strips or reveals of contrasting or complementary colors may be incorporated to add to the aesthetic appeal of the door. The door construction is of particular utility in schools, health care facilities and other institutions.
