Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a circuit breaker (14) comprising a switching path (16), which has a semiconductor switch (22) and to which a current sensor (24) is assigned. In this case, the semiconductor switch (22) is controlled in such a way that it is operated in linear-mode operation. A power loss occurring in the semiconductor switch (22) during the linear-mode operation and a junction temperature resulting therefrom are determined, and the determined junction temperature is compared with a limit value. Control of the semiconductor switch (22) is changed depending on the comparison. The power loss is determined on the basis of the electric current conducted by means of the semiconductor switch (22) and the electric voltage dropped across the semiconductor switch (22) and on the basis of a factor which is dependent on the duration of the linear-mode operation and/or the electric voltage dropped across the semiconductor switch (22). The invention furthermore relates to a circuit breaker (14).

Abstract

A circuit breaker has a main current path which has a controllable first switching element with a first control input that is connected to a controllable second switching element of a drive circuit. The drive circuit has a current sensor which is coupled to the main current path and which has two outputs. An electrical voltage which is applied between the two outputs is dependent on an electric current conducted by way of the main current path. Each of the outputs is connected to in each case one input of a microcontroller-free characteristic curve circuit with two further outputs, and the second switching element is operated depending on a further electrical voltage which is applied between the further outputs. A functional relationship exists between the further electrical voltage and the electrical voltage.

Abstract

A disconnecting device interrupts a direct current of a current path containing a hybrid switch which has a current-carrying mechanical contact system and a semiconductor switching system connected in parallel thereto. The contact system has a fixed contact and a moving contact. The moving contact is mounted on a contact bridge being coupled to a drive system moving the moving contact in a switching movement from an open position into a closed position resting against the fixed contact with a contact force. A first magnet element is mounted on the contact bridge and spaced apart from a stationary second magnet element by an air gap such that, when a current flows through the contact bridge, a magnetic field is produced in the first magnet element and the first and second magnet elements are magnetically attracted. The attraction produces a magnetic force directed in the same direction as the contact force.

Abstract

A method for detecting arc faults when charging electric battery systems or lead acid batteries, which are electrically connected in series to form a string which is supplied via a DC voltage converter. A first value corresponding to an electric voltage applied to the string and a second value corresponding to an electric current flowing through the string are generated. As a first condition, it is checked whether the first value changes by more than a first limit value within a first time window. As the second condition, it is checked whether the second value changes by more than a second limit value within a second time window. An arc is detected if the first condition and the second condition are met within a third time window. Provided also is a method for manufacturing electric battery systems, in particular lead acid batteries, as well as to a cut-off device.

Abstract

An input voltage is converted into a higher output voltage by several voltage stages each having a series circuit with a rectifier diode, a charging capacitor, and a switchable first semiconductor switch. Each voltage stage has a switchable second semiconductor switch is connected in parallel with the rectifier diode and the charging capacitor. The rectifier diodes of adjacent voltage stages are connected in series. First, the first semiconductor switches are closed and the second semiconductor switches are opened, to charge the charging capacitors by the input voltage. Then, the first semiconductor switches are opened and the second semiconductor switches are closed, so that the individual voltages produced on the charging capacitors add up along the series-connected rectifier diodes to produce the output voltage.

Abstract

An interrupter device for interrupting a direct current between a direct current source and an electrical device, for example, between a photovoltaic generator and an inverter. The interrupter device has a mechanical switch which has a first fixed contact, a second fixed contact, and a contact bridge that can be moved between a first position and a second position. The contact bridge and the first fixed contact are electrically contacted to a semiconductor switch which blocks a current when the contact bridge is in the first position. A control input of the semiconductor switch is connected to the mechanical switch such that an arc voltage generated as a result of an arc across the switch connects the semiconductor switch so as to conduct a current when the contact bridge is moved into the second position.
