Abstract

Asymmetric multi-pulse transformer rectifier unit (TRU), and associated systems and methods are described herein. In some embodiments, the transformer includes a 3-phase delta or wye primary coupled to a galvanically isolated 3 -phase delta secondary with correction windings placed per the transformer schematic to provide a multi-pulse (e.g., 18-pulse or 24-pulse) asymmetric output. Such construction provides passive multiphase PTC and harmonic cancellation and allows multi pulse rectification. At the TRU level, 3-phase input power is provided to the transformer, which produces an isolated 9-phase or 12-phase output. The isolated multi-phase transformer output may be fed into a bridge rectifier, which converts AC to DC. DC output voltage may be determined by AC input voltage and transformer turns ratio.

Abstract

The aircraft tire pressure resonant loop link assembly electromagnetically couples a magnetic field between a wheel axle electromagnetic adapter transformer primary coil and a tire pressure sensor receiver coil for powering a tire pressure sensor, and includes a pair of spaced apart electrically conductive connecting arms, a single electrically conductive primary loop electrically connected to first ends of the connecting arms mounted adjacent to a secondary tire pressure sensor coil, and a circuit including a resonant tuning capacitor and a secondary coil with one or more electrically conductive loops at second ends of the connecting arms. The tire pressure sensor coil pair includes a transformer core, and secondary resonant coil pair also includes a transformer core.

Abstract

Cold check gas pressure readings for the landing gear tires of an aircraft are obtained automatically during normal operation of the aircraft. The automated system (S1, e.g.) includes monitoring aircraft data to determine that the aircraft is at rest on the ground (32,345,36), and electronically monitoring the tire pressure (24). When predetermined cold check conditions have been met; the tire pressure values are automatically stored with a timestamp (38) for later access by a user.

Abstract

The aircraft tire pressure loop link is formed of first and second single metal loops connected by parallel spaced apart metal shafts, and provides for coupling a magnetic field between a wheel hub coil and a tire pressure sensor coil to provide electromagnetic communication between a control unit connect to the wheel hub coil and a tire pressure sensor connected to the tire pressure sensor coil. The current induced in the first single metal loop travels the distance from the edge of the wheel axle coil to the periphery of the of the wheel rim to the second single metal loop, which generates the flux in the tire pressure sensor receiver coil necessary to power the tire pressure sensor.

Abstract

A passive RFID transponder sensor system includes a sensor assembly having a focused field transponder antenna with a highly magnetically permeable transponder antenna stem, and a reader antenna with an electrical reader coil generating a magnetic field having magnetic flux extending between the reader antenna and a sensor assembly. The electrical transponder coil and the electrical reader coil are coupled by the magnetic field, so that information can be transferred to and from the sensor assembly through the magnetic field by which the electrical transponder coil and the electrical reader coil are coupled.

Abstract

Three coils, each having several serial windings (A1-A4 or 5; B1-B4 or 5; C1-C4 or 5), have selected windings connected in a delta (A2-A4 or 5; B2-B4 or 5; C2-CR or 5). Input AC power is applied through outrigger windings (A1, B1, C1)at the delta apices (A, B, C). At least two strategically located, direct tap, natural output points (01-06; or 01, 02, 04, 05, 07, 08) are provided at each side of the delta. For 6-phase output, only the six natural output points (01-06) are required. For 9-phase output, an additional central output terminal (09, 06, 03) connects to each side of the delta through a stub winding (A6, B6, C6). The 6-phase or 9-phase output is passed to a rectifier circuit (R).
