An agitator, particularly for abrasive media includes a support disk to which agitator blades are connected substantially perpendicular to the support disk. The blades are arranged substantially in a radial direction. The support disk also includes a hub that receives an agitator shaft which is preferably motor-driven. The trailing faces of the blades of the agitator and/or the area of the blade connections to the support disk are designed to largely prevent vortex shedding. This is accomplished by implementing a specific geometry for the agitator blades, the support disk, and the connection of the blades to the support disk.
Disclosed is a stirring member (1; 1a-1h), particularly for abrasive media, comprising a support disk (2; 2a-2h) to which stirring member blades (3; 3a-3h) are connected substantially perpendicular to the support disk (2; 2a-2h), said blades (3; 3a-3h) being arranged substantially in a radial direction. The support disk (2; 2a-2h) is also provided with a hub that receives a stirring shaft which is preferably motor-driven in a suitable manner. The invention relates to a stirring assembly comprising a stirring element (2) for stirring a liquid and a gassing device (3 or 3') which supplies gas, such as air, below the stirring element (2) and at the side(s) of the stirring element (2), with the gas to be dispersed by means of the stirring element (2). The gassing device (3; 3') is designed in such a manner that until a critical gas quantity value determining the flooding point is reached, the gassing device (3; 3') supplies the quantity of gas to the stirring element (2) from below and when the flooding point is exceeded, the gassing device (3; 3') simultaneously supplies the gas exceeding the flooding point at the side(s) of the stirring element (2). The aim of the invention is to prevent the stirring element (2) from being flooded and to improve the dispersing effect of the liquid and gas. For this purpose, the gas supply in the stirring assembly according to the invention is carried out, depending on the quantity of gas to be supplied, from below and from the side(s) in relation to the stirring element (2).
