Abstract
Apparatus used to allow separation of one or more components from a liquid supplied to the apparatus and then, following use of the apparatus, the one or more separated components can be used for further purposes. The apparatus includes a rotatable shaft to which is mounted one or more columns which rotate with the shaft and which also rotate about their own axes and through which the liquid passes. The columns are provided with liquid from flying lead assemblies and the invention provides improved connecting means between the columns and flying lead assemblies to allow the same to be modular. An improved cooling system is also disclosed.

Abstract
A flying leads assembly includes a flying lead having an inner layer which forms a liquid passage and an outer layer which acts as a sacrificial layer in use, thereby allowing integrity of the passage to be maintained for a long period of time. A further layer is provided intermediate the inner and outer layers which can be used to provide support to the assembly. The flying lead assembly, or a number of assemblies, are then located in a guide with lubricant material.

Abstract
A centrifuge apparatus includes a plurality of modules, each including a rotatable body, housing and flying leads, assembly. The modules can be selectively interconnected to allow adaptation of the processing capacity of the apparatus to process a liquid to remove components therefrom and/or to process a number of different liquids and allow the separation of one or more types of components therefrom simultaneously.

Abstract
The invention to which this application relates is apparatus which is used to allow the separation of one or more components from a liquid which is supplied to the apparatus and then, following use of the apparatus, the one or more separated components can be used for further purposes. The apparatus includes a shaft which is rotatable and to which is mounted one or more columns which rotate with the shaft and which also rotate about their own axes and through which the liquid passes. The columns (4) are provided with liquid from flying lead assemblies (6) and the invention provides improved connecting means (2) between the columns (4) and flying lead assemblies (6) to allow the same to be modular. An improved cooling system is also disclosed.

Abstract
The invention relates to improvements to centrifuge apparatus and in particular to the flying leads assembly which allows the same be provided with a longer life due to the provision of the flying lead (16, 16') with an inner layer which forms the liquid passage and an outer layer which can act as a sacrificial layer in use, thereby allowing the integrity of the passage to be maintained for a longer period of time of use. In one embodiment a further layer is provided intermediate the inner and outer layers which can be used to provide support to the assembly. The flying lead assembly, or a number of assemblies, are then located in a guide with lubricant material.

Abstract
The invention relates to centrifuge apparatus of a type which is typically, although not necessarily exclusively, for use in counter current chromatography in which substances are caused to partition between two phases in a column typically in the form of a helix or spiral. The apparatus includes leads (84,86) which connect the inlet and outlet conduits to a column (68) which is moved by the apparatus and in accordance with the invention the leads are constrained within a sheath (88) which includes a lubricant to allow lubrication of the same while the apparatus is in use and thereby increase the longevity of the apparatus. The opposing ends of the leads can also be constrained in terms of movement with, at one end the leads being fully constrained and the opposing end the leads being constrained in terms of rotational movement.

Abstract
A centrifuge comprising a: a main drive system (4) having a first axis of rotation; a bobbin carrier (15) for mounting a bobbin (2) so as to have an axis of rotation that is parallel to and offset from the first axis of rotation; a first transmission system connected to the main drive system and the bobbin carrier to transmit power from the main drive system to rotate the carrier bobbin (15) around the first axis of rotationand to rotate the carrier (15) around the second axis of rotation; a first bobbin drive system (10) connected to the transmission system for driving the carrier (15) around the bobbinaxis of rotation; wherein the first transmission system is connected to the bobbin carrier by a differential, such that the bobbin (2) can rotate around the first axis of rotation at a different speed than it rotates around the second axis of rotation.
