Abstract

The present invention relates to the field of biotechnological production of polyketide based colorants from filamentous fungi, in particular a method for preparing a biomass comprising a Monascus-like pigment composition from a nontoxigenic and non-pathogenic fungal source. The present invention further relates to use of the Monascus-like pigment composition as a colouring agent for food items and/or non-food items, and a cosmetic composition comprising the Monascus-like pigment composition.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for detecting at least one first input signal superimposed on at least one second signal, the method comprising the steps of providing said at least one first input signal superimposed on at least one second signal to at least one half-wave rectifier; transforming, in said at least one half-wave rectifier, said at least one first input signal superimposed on at least one second signal into a half-wave rectified signal; providing said half-wave rectified signal to an envelope detector; and transforming, in said envelope detector, said half-wave rectified signal into an envelope signal and wherein the at least one half-wave rectifier comprises at least one optoelectronic device. In this way, a simpler and cheaper method and/or device are provided for e.g. detecting a transmitted information signal superimposed on a high frequency carrier signal.

Abstract

Torsional vibration damper (1;20;30;40;50) which is suitable for dampening the motion of a rotatable element, said torsional vibration damper comprising an 'actuation' element (3) which is connectable to the rotatable element, an 'inertia' element (5) arranged co-axially and rotatably with said actuation element, an enclosed volume (8) between said inertia element and said actuation element where a cross section through said enclosed volume taken on a plane which is parallel to the axis of the actuation element comprises at least one 'axial' portion (11 ) which is arranged essentially parallel to the axis of the actuation element, an Electro-Rheological or a Magneto-Rheological fluid (9) arranged at least in a part of said enclosed volume, and an electric or a magnetic field generator (7) in the form of a coil which generates an electric or a magnetic field which passes through at least a portion of said enclosed volume. The field generator is integrated into the torsional vibration damper in such a way that a majority of the magnetic or electric field lines (12) generated by the field generator pass through said 'axial' portion of said enclosed volume. In this way, an effective torsional vibration damper is provided.

Abstract

A tuned liquid damper (1) comprising a housing (2) with a hollow cavity (3) within said housing and a first fluid (4) which partially fills said hollow cavity. The inner surface of said hollow cavity is essentially spherical. The tuned liquid damper further comprises first fluid damping means (7) arranged within the essentially spherical cavity of the housing. In this way, a tuned liquid damper is provided which has a response which is constant and independent of the orientation of the tuned liquid damper. Damping means are provided in order to be able to control the damping effect of the tuned liquid damper .
