Abstract

An electrically heatable article of apparel, in the form of a vest is equipped with a discrete and concealed control module which is provided with a finger actuating switch positioned for easy access by the fingers of a wearer person. The control module switch transmits communication signals in the form of time retention presses on the finger actuation switch button to cause the programed control circuit of the module to perform stored programmed functions. An haptic feedback device is mounted on a printed circuit board of the control module to generate vibration communication signals to a wearer person's body by the sense of touch. The printed circuit board also acts as a vibration transmitting medium to the finger actuating switch to permit a user person to feel the vibration times of the retention presses through its finger. The control module is mounted in an accessible concealed and discrete area of the vest providing easy access to the finger actuating switch by the fingers of a wearer person and is not visible to the eye.

Abstract

A composite pile is comprised of two or more rigid hollow tubes interconnected together end-to-end by a pile connector. A boring head is secured to a leading lower end of a lowermost one of the tubes. A force transmitting member is removably connectable to a top end of an uppermost one of the rigid hollow tubes to receive a driving force for driving each of the two or more rigid hollow tubes into the ground. The pile connector has opposed axially aligned projecting pile connecting members extending from opposed parallel faces of a transverse impact transfer disc and extend a predetermined distance in adjacent open ends of the tubes to maintain the tubes in alignment with one another. The impact transfer disc is dimensioned to extend to an outer periphery of circumferential end edges of the rigid hollow tubes interconnected end-to-end and to receive the end edges in contact with the opposed parallel faces to transfer the driving force substantially uniformly between the end edges of the tubes interconnected together.

Abstract

A pile adapted to be driven into the ground and having retaining formations to retain one or more geothermal conduit loops. Each conduit loop is formed by opposed longitudinal conduit sections interconnected at a lower end by an interconnecting section. The conduit loops are adapted for flow of a heat exchange fluid therein. The retaining formations retain the one or more conduit loops in close proximity to the pile through the attachment means as the pile is driven into the ground.

Abstract

A soil penetrating plate to position a flexible geothermal conduit loop in spoil is described. The soil penetrating plate has a leading soil penetrating formation which is provided with hook arrangements to hook an end loop portion of a conduit loop. The soil penetrating plate is securable to a force transmitting shaft or cable to displace the soil penetrating plate in soil whereby to position the conduit loop thereinto.

Abstract

An impact adaptor to convert a rock drill to an impact driver is described. The impact adapter has a boom coupling for securing the adapter in co-operating alignment with the shank of a drifter. The adapter has a casing for slidingly receiving and guiding an anvil therein from a top open end of the casing. The casing has an open bottom end adapted for receiving a top end section of a pile, tube or rod in the casing. Anvil supports are provided in the casing for retaining the anvil captive therein in the absence of the top end section of the pile, tube or rod. The casing has a predetermined length above the anvil supports to permit captive displacement of the anvil and displacement of the top section of the pile, tube or rod therein. The impact adapter is secured to the drifter in a movable or immovable manner and compensates for wear of the shank.

Abstract

A hollow pipe connector is described for interconnecting opposed ends of two hollow pipes in abutting end-to-end relationship. Preferably, but not exclusively, the pipes are hollow pile cylinders of circular cross-section. The connector is formed by two flat metal plates each having interconnecting slots whereby the plates are coupled together to form a connector of X-cross-section. Each of the plates have outer side edges having opposed sloped edge portions on a respective side of an arresting raised projection formed in the outer edge in a mid-section thereof. The sloped edge portions slope inwardly towards a respective one of the opposed ends of the connector member. The connector engages opposed end portions of pipes coupled together by a frictional retaining force exerted on the inner walls at opposed ends of the coupled pipes.
