Abstract

A tool-bit holder (1) has a hub (4), wherein the hub has a longitudinally extending axial bore (2) for receiving a tool-bit (30) therein, a detent ball (16) radially projecting into the bore to selectively engage a groove (G) in the tool-bit, and a circumferential ramp (14) on a sleeve (10) that is longitudinally moveable over the detent ball to cause radial movement thereof. A longitudinally moveable member (18) extends through a slot (17) in the hub and radially into the bore. The circumferential ramp is moveable as a function of longitudinal movement of the moveable member relative to the hub. An inner ring (20) is biased by an inner ring spring (26), while a sleeve spring (24) extends in compression between the inner ring and a cap on the sleeve.
