Abstract

Disclosed herein are alignment features for scopes, such as alignment rings for telescopic sights. For example, a scope can includes a proximal end having an interior surface. The proximal end is that which a user aligns his or her eye in order to visualize a target. The scope may also include an alignment ring on the interior surface of the proximal end. The alignment ring assists a user in determining whether his or her eye is properly aligned with a longitudinal axis of the scope. With correct eye alignment, the alignment ring is not visible. With incorrect eye alignment, at least a portion of the alignment ring is visible, thus ensuring accurate sighting.

Abstract

A slide for an automatic pistol includes a cavity, a housing in the cavity, a laser module at least partially received in the housing, a power source, circuitry, and a striker. The slide has a first mode in which it emits laser light and a second mode in which it does not emit laser light. The striker has a first position in which it does not cause the laser module to emit laser light. When the pistol's trigger is pulled, the pistol's firing pin contacts the striker and moves the striker backwards from the first position to a biased position. When the firing pin moves out of contact with the striker, the striker moves forward to a second position and causes the circuitry to transmit power from the power source to the laser module, which causes the laser module to emit laser light.

Abstract

A laser targeting apparatus rests on a surface and moves, such as by vibrating, wobbling, or shaking, when struck by laser light of sufficient intensity. The apparatus is designed not to fall over, so a user does not have to move to the apparatus and pick it up after a strike. The apparatus has a body that includes a structure, which is preferably one or more printed circuit boards including light sensors, for detecting strikes of laser light, and a motor. When a strike of laser light is detected, power is provided to the motor, which vibrates and causes the apparatus to move.

Abstract

A grip for use on a firearm includes a base surface, portions that are raised above the base surface, and/or portions that are lower than the base surface. The grip may include raised portions and lowered portions that alternate vertically and/or horizontally on the grip. The raised portions may be 0.005″ to 0.050″ above the surface, and the lowered portions may be 0.005″ to 0.050″ lower than the surface. The grip may be formed of any suitable material, such as plastic or rubber, and made in any suitable manner, such as injection molding or vacuum molding. The raised portions and/or lowered portions may include one or more of designs, letters, and numbers.

Abstract

A crossbow sighter is used to align the sight used on a crossbow to the axis of the groove on the crossbow. In this manner, the cross bow bolt will strike close to, or at, the location sighted by the sight. The crossbow sighter fits into the groove and has a body with a length that extends past the bow string when the bow string is in its fully relaxed position. The bow string rests against the body and applies cross-axial pressure to the crossbow sighter and helps retain it in the groove while aligning the crossbow sight.

Abstract

A target that, depending upon a type of game for which the target is programmed, senses whether and where it has been struck by a laser light. The target face displays a game board (such as a dart board) and allows laser light to pass through. A plurality of light sensors are behind the target face. When a designated portion of the target face is struck by a laser light, a sensor records the strike. One or more of: the game to be played using the target, the number of players, starting the game, resetting the target for a new game, and changing players, is accomplished remotely by striking an area on the target with laser light.

Abstract

Disclosed are recoil-inhibiting grips for handguns that minimize recoil without sacrificing aiming accuracy. The grips may provide both recoil inhibition and grip stability by incorporating a vibration-damping elastomeric strategically positioned in only the back surface of a handgun grip (e.g., facing the palm). The elastomeric insert may be incorporated in the top section of the rear surface of the grip, where the bulk of the recoil force meets the user's palm.

Abstract

A target senses whether and where it has been struck by a laser light. The target includes a screen for allowing laser light to pass through, a plurality of light sensors behind the screen, and an optical display associated with one or more of the light sensors. When the target is struck by a laser light, a sensor records the strike, and the target may be struck with laser light multiple times, whereby different sensors may record the different strikes. To determine whether and where the target has been struck, the user activates a display mode that causes the optical displays in the target to illuminate. The user can then reset the target so the user can begin again.
