Abstract

In an example embodiment, there is disclosed herein a technique that allows the capabilities of an automated banking machine, such as an ATM, to be upgraded remotely. For example, the banking machine may be sold or leased with an initial configuration. If the customer desires to add additional features, the customer can pay for the features and the manufacturer or dealer can send a signal from a remote host to the automated banking machine with data representative of the upgrade. The banking machine then operates with the upgraded configuration.

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for handling value documents (28, 48, 50), which has an output compartment (72) for the withdrawal of value documents (48). The output compartment (72) is delimited by a receiving element (62) on a first side, by a limiting element (74) on a second side, and by a closure element (60) on a third side in a closed position. The limiting element (74) is arranged in a first limiting position in order to supply the value documents (48) into the output compartment (72). With a movement of the receiving element (62) in the direction of the limiting element (74), the limiting element (74) is moved from the first limiting position into a second limiting position. In order to open the output compartment (72), the closure element is moved from the closed position into the open position, wherein an engaging element (102, 103) of the limiting element (74) engages with an engaging region of the closure element (60) when moving the closure element (60), or in the open position of the closure element (60), if the limiting element (74) is in the second limiting position.

Abstract

The device comprises an input compartment for inputting notes of value, a pull-off and separating unit for separating the notes of value present in the input compartment, a value note identification unit for identifying the separated notes of value as well as an intermediate storage unit for intermediately storing the identified notes of value. The device comprises a first cash box (12a to 12d) for storing notes of value (13) and a second cash box (12e) for storing notes of value (40). A transport unit (19, 24) serves for the transport of notes of value between the mentioned units and cash boxes. A control unit (28) assigns one of the at least two cash boxes (12a to 12e) as a target cash box (12a to 12e) to each identified note of value and determines whether the filling level of the second cash box (12e) has reached or exceeded a value stored in a preset manner. The control unit (28) controls the transport unit (19, 24) such that the intermediately stored notes of value (13, 40) that are to be stored in the first cash box (12a to 12d) are removed from the intermediate storage unit (30), are fed to the first cash box (12a to 12d) and are stored therein. The control unit (28) further determines a remaining capacity of the second cash box (12e) in that the control unit (28) deducts the number of notes of value (40) that are altogether stored in the second cash box (12e), after the filling level of the second cash box (12e) has reached the predetermined value, from an initial remaining capacity stored in a preset manner, and determines a remaining capacity of the second cash box (12e). The control unit (28) controls the transport unit (19, 24) when the number of intermediately stored notes of value (40) that are to be stored in the second cash box (12e) does not exceed the remaining capacity such that the notes of value (40) that are to be stored in the second cash box (12e) are removed from the intermediate storage unit (30), are fed to the second cash box (12e) and stored therein.

The head module (100, 300, 400) comprises a frame (136, 436) and a front panel. Furthermore, the arrangement comprises at least one sensor unit for outputting a control signal, an authentication unit for determining authentication information, and a control unit. The head module (100, 300, 400) comprises at least one electromechanical locking unit (130, 132), which locks the front panel (104) to the frame (136, 436) in a locked state and unlocks same in an unlocked state. The control device is configured to detect the control signal and verify the authentication information, and to control the electromagnetic locking unit (130, 132) in such a way that the electromagnetic locking unit (130, 132) changes from the locked state to the unlocked state only when the control signal is detected and the authentication information is successfully verified.

Abstract

The invention relates to an assembly (10) having a card reader (12) arranged in a housing (100). The housing (100) comprises a pivotable flap (102), which in an opened state enables access to the card reader (12) and in a closed state prevents access to the card reader (12). The flap (102) has an opening (104), through which a card can be fed to the card reader (12) and/or can be ejected by the card reader (12) in the closed state of the flap (102). The assembly (10) has an elastically deformable element (14) for resiliently supporting the card reader (12). The assembly (10) also has a first positioning element (16) for positioning the card reader (12), which first positioning element is arranged on the flap (102) in such a way that the first positioning element faces the card reader (12) in the closed state of the flap (102). When the flap (102) is moved from the open state into the closed state, the first positioning element (16) moves the card reader (12) in such a way that the card reader (12) is arranged in a predefined position relative to the flap (102) in the closed state of the flap (102).

Abstract

A return device for empties includes a housing; an empties-introduction opening by way of which empties are introducible; a conveying mechanism disposed in the housing and by which empties that have been introduced can be conveyed away. The mechanism has an empties-receptacle portion facing the opening and by which the empties from the opening reach the mechanism. The portion is disposed to be adjacent to the opening and spaced apart therefrom such that a gap is present between the opening and the portion. The device further includes an optical detection device disposed in the housing adjacent to the opening, so as to be able to optically detect in an at least substantially encircling manner introduced empties; and a web extending in a region between a lower portion of the opening and the portion, to be able to serve as a bearing for the empties at least partially bridges the gap.

Abstract

An empties sorting device includes a sorting table with a table surface, a feed section, and a discharge section. The discharge section has a dividing device with at least one section partition wall. The device further includes a conveying device, which is designed in such a way that the empties can be transferred from the feed section to the discharge section, and a guiding device with a guiding element, designed to be movable at least into a first guiding position associated with a first collecting channel, and a second guiding position associated with a second collecting channel, and a controller designed to control the movement of the guiding element into the first and second guiding positions in accordance with the type of empties. A discharge section partition wall between the collecting channels can be moved parallel to the table surface, thus allowing an associated collecting channel size to be varied.

Abstract

A return device for empties includes an optical capturing apparatus for optically capturing features of an empty container. The capturing apparatus includes light sources and cameras. The light sources and the cameras are arranged around a capturing region in a horseshoe-shaped manner. One of the light sources and one of the cameras are arranged such that the camera is arranged in the beam path of the light source such that, when an empty container has been brought into a capturing region, the camera captures a modified luminous energy from the light source compared to the case where there are no empty containers in the capturing region. The return device further includes a circuit connected to the plurality of cameras and configured to activate an additional camera or an additional light source of the light sources on the basis of the luminous energy captured by the camera.

Abstract

The invention relates to a card reading unit (20) for a self-service terminal, for example a cash dispenser, which comprises a receiving space (13) for a card (11), in which data stored on the card is read, using mechatronic converters, in particular piezoelectric converters, comprising sensors and/or actuators, which are connected to an evaluation device (4), wherein the mechatronic converters are arranged in or around the card reading device in such a way that the receiving space and the content thereof have an influence on the signals of the mechatronic converter, the evaluation device manages at least reference data from the mechatronic converter, which represents a permissible state of the receiving space (13), wherein the evaluation device is configured to receive a signal in a manner controlled by an event of the mechatronic converter, which is stimulated by a part of the mechatronic converter and detected by a part of the mechatronic converter, in order to compare same with the reference data, and to emit a warning signal in the event of a defined deviation.
