Abstract

A cutting tooth having a blade-like cutting section with opposed top and bottom surfaces, opposed front and rear ends defining a length therebetween, and opposed sides defining a width therebetween, a mounting section extending down from the bottom surface of the cutting section with at least a top portion of the mounting section adjacent the cutting section defining a width smaller than that of the cutting section, the mounting section having laterally extending retaining members spaced from the cutting section and adapted to be retained in a mounting block, at least a quarter of the length of the cutting section extending past a front of the mounting section, with the front end of the cutting section terminating in a cutting edge.

Abstract

A cutting tooth having a blade-like cutting section and a mounting section extending down from the bottom of the cutting section. The mounting section is narrower and shorter than the cutting section, and generally centered with respect to the cutting section. The mounting section has laterally extending flanges spaced from the cutting section. At least a quarter of the cutting section extends past the front of the mounting section and terminating in a cutting edge. The cutting tooth is adapted to be mounted in a mounting block to form a cutting assembly. The mounting block has a slot extending into the block from the front face, the slot open in the top surface of the block. The mounting section of the tooth slides into the slot in the block to locate the cutting section on the top of the block with the cutting section projecting forwardly of the block. The flanges on the tooth hold the tooth in place in the block against centrifugal forces. The cutting assembly is adapted to be mounted between two collars on a brush cutting drum with the cutting tooth above the periphery of the collars.

Abstract

A wear liner for use with a brush cutter, the cutter having a cylindrical, rotatable, cutting drum carrying cutting teeth and a cover at least partially covering the drum to limit dispersal of cut material. The liner comprises a sheet of material which can be shaped to fit against the inner surface of the cover. The liner has holes on its sides for use in detachably connecting the liner with fastening means to the cover against the cover's inner surface. The liner has protective means mounted on its inner surface adjacent each hole to protect part of the fastening means located adjacent the inner surface of the liner, when the liner is mounted to the cover and the fastening means extend through the opening, from wear by material thrown by the cutter during its operation. The invention is also directed toward a brush cutter incorporating the liner.

Abstract

A mounting for connecting an operating head, that generates vibrations when in use, to a vehicle in a manner to minimize the transmission of vibrations from the head to the vehicle. The mounting comprising a number of female connector device on one of the head and the vehicle and a similar number of male connecting device on the other of the head and vehicle, the male connecting device each carrying a resilient sleeve. The male connecting device are inserted into the female connecting device and a bolt is passed through each female connecting device and each resilient sleeve associated with it to join the head to the vehicle.
