The present disclosure relates to an infrastructure pit or vault 1 for accommodating in- ground infrastructure assets, such as water lines, gas lines, electrical cables, or optical fibre conduits. When the at least one lid member 40 is seated against the recessed shoulder or step 32 in the collar 30, an upper surface 41 of the lid member 40 lies substantially flush with an upper edge 33 of the collar. The unitary moulded plastic body 10 is configured to receive one or more reinforcing rib members 16 to be removably inserted in and/or along the side walls 12 thereof, each rib member 16 preferably being a straight rod or bar. The side walls 12 of the body 10 include a plurality of apertures 15 for receiving or mounting the reinforcing rib members 16 therein, the apertures 15 preferably being configured for receiving or mounting the one or more rib members 16 in and/or along the side walls 12 such that the rib member(s) 16 extend in a generally horizontal orientation.
