Abstract

The invention relates to a container for keeping liquids, in particular a drinks bottle, with a wall consisting of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). To achieve low permeation of oxygen or carbon dioxide through the wall and at the same time make production simpler, it is proposed that the wall contains at least one additive with a particle size in the range from 10 to 200 nm that lowers the diffusion coefficient for oxygen and/or carbon dioxide. As far as the method is concerned, this additive may be produced in particular by grinding in polyethylene glycol. In particular, the use of a pigment with a particle size in the stated range for lowering the diffusion coefficient for oxygen and/or carbon dioxide in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or other polar polymers is considered to be of inventive significance.
