Abstract
Cooling element (2) which can be introduced into a drinks can (1) in order to cool the contents thereof, comprising a reaction chamber (4) which is enclosed by liquid-tight outer walls and in which a first reactant can be kept, and a storage chamber (5), in which a second reactant can be stored, wherein the reaction chamber (4) and the storage chamber (5) are separated from one another by way of a mechanically destructible diaphragm (7), and the storage chamber (5) is arranged completely in the interior of the reaction chamber (4), characterized in that the diaphragm (7) consists of a liquid-tight elastic material or comprises the latter, and can be set under tensile stress upon storage of the second reactant. The method is characterized in that the diaphragm is destroyed mechanically in order to achieve a cooling reaction, and active thorough mixing of the reaction chamber takes place by means of a device for thorough mixing.

Abstract
The invention relates to a cooling element for drinks cans, a self-cooling drinks can, and a method for cooling a drinks can. In particular, the invention relates to a cooling element which can be activated from outside without opening the can. The cooling element (7) comprises a housing having at least two chambers (8A, 8B) which can be filled with a liquid and/or a solid, and a membrane (9) fluidically separating the two chambers (8A, 8B), wherein the housing is completely hermetically sealed at all times and has an elastically or plastically deformable trigger region (10) integrated in the housing, which trigger region abuts at least one of the chambers (8A, 8B) such that when the trigger region (10) is deformed by a load acting in a trigger direction (13A) the volume and/or internal pressure of at least one chamber (8A, 8B) can be changed. The cooling element (7) is characterized in that the trigger region (10) is curved such that when a load is applied to the trigger region (10) its circumference (10B) attempts to increase.

Abstract
A self-cooling beverage container is disclosed. The self-cooling beverage container comprises a beverage container housing including a side wail portion, a container base and a container top having a breakable die-cut therein and a downwardly displaceable portion near said die-cut; a pull tab attached to said container top at a fastener connecting said puH tab and said container top, said pull tab having an engagement end which pushes on said downwardly dispiaceable portion of said container top to break said die-cut whenever an opposite end of said puli-tab is pulled away from said top; a coolant spiral inside said beverage container containing a coolant gas stored under pressure, said spiral having a spiral top with a breakable seal through which said coolant gas is released; a spiral support inside said beverage container connected to said beverage container holding said coolant spiral in a perpendicular position relative to the highest point of said container base; a needle inside said beverage container having a sharp end facing said breakable seal of said spiral; and if appropriate a storage gas held inside said beverage container under a pressure sufficient to elastically deform said container top outwardly in a direction away from the interior of said beverage container, whereby said container top elastically relaxes upon release of the pressure of said storage gas so that said container top moves inwardly toward the interior of said beverage container upon the release of the storage gas pressure.
