The present invention relates to a method for fixing reactive dyes in cellulose fibre fabrics, wherein the fabric has been digitally printed and is impregnated with a mixture formed by an alkaline compound and a hygroscopic component other than urea or any of the derivative compounds thereof. The cellulose fibre fabric is passed through a condensation chamber before entering a vaporiser, to uniformly moisten the entire width of the fabric. Using the method of the invention, it is possible for the effluent generated in the washing system - through which the printed textile passes once the reactive dye has been fixed – to have a COD value of less than 1000 mg O2/L, a TKN value of 50 mg N/L and electrical conductivity below 3000 S/cm. The invention also relates to a system for carrying out the method.
