This blade driving device is provided with an opening formation member for forming an opening that allows light to pass through, and a plurality of blade groups provided annularly to rotate about the opening being created by the opening formation member. The plurality of blade groups includes a first blade group and a second blade group. When the blade driving device transitions from a first optically-transmissive circular opening formed by the first blade group to a second optically-transmissive circular opening formed by the second blade group, the first blade group remains adjacent to the second blade group after forming the first optically-transmissive circular opening. Thereby, the first blade group works inside the second blade group to substantially prevent the second blade group that forms the second optically-transmissive circular opening from warping upward in the optical axis direction.

Abstract

User labor relating to determining on an alignment condition is reduced and a stable conveying operation is realized by aligning a sheet bundle also when a sheet bundle is added. A sheet bundle composed of multiple sheet materials is placed on a loading platform. An encoder pulse unit detects the amount of the sheet bundle placed on the loading platform based on the opening amount of a pressure plate. A control unit determines on an alignment condition according to the amount of the sheet bundle. Rotating members align the sheet bundle in accordance with the alignment condition. When it is determined that another sheet bundle has been added to the loading platform, the control unit updates the alignment condition according to the total amount of the other sheet bundle and the sheet bundle remaining on the loading platform.

Abstract

A sheet feeder is provided with a sheet holding means for holding a stack of sheets, a sheet drawing means for drawing in sheets from one side of the stack of sheets on the sheet holding means, and a sheet separating and feeding means for separately feeding the sheets one by one to a conveyance path, said sheet separating and feeding means being provided downstream of the sheet drawing means in the sheet drawing direction. The sheets to be supplied from the sheet holding means by the sheet drawing means are separately fed from the sheet holding means toward the conveyance path on the downstream side in the sheet feeding direction while passing across an inclined surface that is inclined in the direction in which the sheets are supplied. Between the sheet drawing means and the sheet separating and feeding means, there is provided an orientation holding means for acting on the sheet so as to hold the feed orientation of the sheet as the sheet is being separately fed. In the vicinity of the point where the sheet holding means and the inclined surface meet, the orientation holding means is provided so as to be displaceable between a position at which the orientation holding means projects from the inclined surface and a position at which the orientation holding means is retracted, and the amount of projection by the orientation holding means from the inclined surface increases substantially as the number of sheets in the stack decreases. When the orientation holding means is in the projected position, the orientation holding means has the function of pushing up the sheets supplied from the sheet holding means by the sheet drawing means and holding the feed orientation of the sheets.

Abstract

A measurement module includes a pair of input terminals, a pair of current paths connected to the pair of input terminals, and a pair of output terminals. A partition that is a non-magnetic insulating portion partitions an internal space of the measurement module into two spaces. Low-current components such as a magnetic detection element are disposed in a space different from a space in which the pair of current paths are housed. The presence of the partition allows the low-current components and the pair of current paths to be disposed close to one another, thus making it possible to reduce the size of the measurement module.

Abstract

First light-amount adjustment blades (6, 9) and second light-amount adjustment blades (4, 5, 7, 8) are made to overlap each other annularly, forming an aperture through which light passes. The first light-amount adjustment blades (6, 9) move in a direction that intersects the direction in which light passes through the aperture, and the second light-amount adjustment blades (4, 5, 7, 8) rotate within a plane that intersects the direction in which light passes through the aperture. As the aperture is increased in size, the polygonal shape thereof approaches a circle. A diaphragm aperture is formed by arranging rotating aperture blades (4, 5, 7, 8) between linear aperture blades (6, 9). Rotation of the rotating aperture blades (4, 5, 7, 8) relative to the linear aperture blades (6, 9), which move linearly and are arranged so as to face each other, changes the shape of the diaphragm aperture.

Abstract

The purpose of the invention is to reduce user effort pertaining to alignment condition determination and to achieve stable transport operations by aligning a sheet stack, even when adding to the sheet stack. A loading platform (2) has a sheet stack (13) comprising a plurality of sheets (13a) placed thereupon. An encoder pulse unit (170) detects the volume of the sheet stack that is placed on the loading platform (2) on the basis of the amount a pressure plate (3) is opened. A control unit determines the alignment conditions according to the volume of the sheet stack (13). Rotating members (6a, 6b) align the sheet stack according to the alignment conditions. In particular, when the control unit determines another sheet stack has been added to the loading platform (2), the control unit updates the alignment conditions according to the total volume of the additional stack and the sheet stack remaining on the loading platform (2).

Abstract

In an image reading system, when an automatic determination mode is designated as a color mode, a scanner does not determine the color of the read image but applies gamma correction to the image data of the image using the first correction characteristic. The scanner transmits the resultant image data to a PC. The PC determines the color of the image indicated by the received image data. When the determined color does not correspond to the first correction characteristic, the PC performs gamma correction of the received image data in accordance with the inverse characteristic of the first correction characteristic and then performs gamma correction using the second correction characteristic corresponding to the determined color.
